Best Slowbro build in Pokemon UNITE

Pokémon Unite – Slowbro build, items, and moves

The mind of a Slowbro is a swirling miasma of scintillating thoughts and turgid ideas. Probably. Or maybe it’s just wondering if it left the oven on. I do that sometimes. While the inner machinations of a Slowbro’s mind are an enigma, you can’t deny that it can hold its own out in the thick of things. Here’s the best Slowbro build in Pokémon UNITE.

Slowpoke and Slowbro are Defenders, which means it’s their jobs to stand guard at the scoring zones and use their prodigious tummies to repel any and all invaders. There’s no real need for Slowpoke and Slowbro to go looking for trouble in the jungle. They just need to stay in their lane and let the action come to them. You need to boost your defensive capabilities while improving your ability to destabilize opponents.

Pokémon UNITE Slowbro Build

Here is the best Slowbro build in Pokémon UNITE:

  • Battle Items: Eject Button
  • Held Items: Shell Bell, Rocky Helmet, Aeos Cookie
  • Moveset: Surf, Telekinesis

Items

For Slowbro’s items, you’ll want Shell Bell, Rocky Helmet, and Aeos Cookie. The Shell Bell restores some of Slowbro’s health every time it lands a special move, which you should be using frequently. The Rocky Helmet will damage any opponent that attacks Slowbro, which is what you want to happen if you’re doing your Defender duties properly. The Aeos Cookie increases Slowbro’s health each time a Pokémon scores a goal, which means as your front line does its duty on the offense, you only become a more indomitable defensive force.

For battle items, bring either an Eject Button for a quick escape or an X Attack for a little extra special attack muscle. Most players are running Eject Button on all characters these days, so that may be your best bet.

Moves

Here are Slowbro’s moves in Pokémon UNITE:

  • Water Gun: Shoots water forcefully, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon and decreasing their movement speed for a short time when it hits. Holding down the button for this move increases its area of effect and damage.
  • Slack Off: Has the user slack off, continually restoring its HP for a short time. If this slacking off is interrupted, the HP restoration effect continues at decreased power.
  • Scald (Lv. 4): Shoots boiling hot water, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon and creating steam when it hits. Opposing Pokemon inside the steam’s area of effect are left burned and have their movement speed decreased for a short time. Upgrade increases the vapor’s area of effect.
  • Surf (Lv. 4): Has the user charge forward on a wave, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon in the area of effect and throwing them. This is followed by two more waves that deal damage to opposing Pokemon in the area of effect and decrease their movement speed for a short time. Upgrade makes the second and third waves become larger and also throw opposing Pokemon like the first wave does.
  • Amnesia (Lv. 6): Allows the user to nullify some damage before it takes effect. For a short time after using this move, the user becomes immune to hindrances and gains increased Defense. This move also increases the damage dealt by the next use of Scald of Surf. Upgrade increases Sp. Atk.
  • Telekinesis (Lv. 6): Makes opposing Pokemon float with psychic power. If used again, pulls the opposing Pokemon toward the user. Upgrade increases this move’s firing speed and range.
  • Slowbeam (Unite): Has the user stare at one of the opposing team’s Pokemon and attack continually, dealing damage and binding it. Grants the user a shield and makes the user immune to hindrances while it’s using this move.

For your moves, Slowpoke starts with Water Gun and learns Slack Off at level 3. At level 4, when Slowpoke evolves into Slowbro, replace Water Gun with Surf. Surf deals solid damage while knocking foes backward, gently dissuading them from intruding further into your territory.

At level 6, replace Slack Off with Telekinesis. This move allows Slowbro to grab a Pokémon and immobilize them in the air, as well as pull them back toward itself. Telekinesis is handy for when you need to drag an opponent away from a goal, though it works best in tandem with teammates who can gang up on them while you’ve got them pinned down.

At level 9, Slowbro learns its Unite move, Slowbeam. Slowbeam is kind of like a hybrid between Surf and Telekinesis, grabbing and immobilizing foes while also damaging them and rendering Slowbro immune to certain status effects. If you’ve got it on deck, you can really annoy someone with a Slowbeam-Telekinesis combo.

Slowbro’s MO is to keep opponents decisively trapped in its rhythm. They only get past you when you say so, and if you ever say so, it’s only to drag them back with Telekinesis.
