Best Machamp Build in Pokémon UNITE

Pokémon Unite – Machamp build, items, and moves

Everyone wanted a Machamp back in the Gen I days. Even putting aside its general utility in the mainline Pokémon games, it’s also just objectively cool-looking. A big duck-faced man with four grabby arms with a champion belt, what’s not to like? Especially these days when they’ve really leaned into Machamp’s rapid punching capabilities. Speaking of, here’s the best Machamp build in Pokémon UNITE.

Machop, Machoke, and Machamp are melee-focused All-Rounder Pokémon. Whatever you need and whenever you need it, they’re there to lend a hand or four. Their defense is only so-so, but the mildly absurd attacking capability balances that out. Even if they can’t stay in a prolonged fight, their strength ensures the opponent will have to drop out if they don’t want to risk their necks. You need to capitalize on that strength, as well as their All-Rounder nature.

Best Machamp Build in Pokémon UNITE

Here is the best Machamp build in Pokémon UNITE:

  • Battle Items: Eject Button
  • Held Items: Float Stone, Muscle Band, Scope Lens
  • Moveset: Cross Chop, Submission

Items

For items, pack the Muscle Band, Float Stone, and Scope Lens. The Muscle Band’s a no-brainer; more base attack strength, more punching. The movement speed boost from the Float Stone will ensure Machamp can get where it needs to be to help in a timely fashion. Lastly, Scope Lens is a good choice if you want to pump up that critical damage. It provides a boost to Critical-Hit Rate as well as Critical-Hit Damage. You can also go with the Buddy Barrier over the Scope Lens. The Buddy Barrier helps in this as well, as it’ll provide a barrier for your lowest-health teammate when you use your Unite move.

An Eject Button would also be handy for keeping proactive watch over the entire field. It provides more mobility, and with the current meta, everyone is using this as their held item.

Moves

For moves, Machop starts with Karate Chop and learns Bulk Up at level 3. At level 5, around when you’ve evolved into Machoke, swap Karate Chop with Cross Chop. This move deals decisive damage, with its dashing motion making it handy for chasing down runners. It also boosts your critical rate, so it’s a great bread-and-butter special.

At level 7, replace Bulk Up with Submission. When you pop Submission, Machoke gains Immune status and moves faster, while its next normal attack slams a foe into the ground, briefly stunning them. You can also chain Cross Chop into Submission to chop ‘em and slam ‘em for a brutal combo attack.

Whenever a Submission-powered Machoke (and eventually Machamp) arrives on the scene, Pokémon run in fear. At level 9, after you evolve into Machamp, you’ll learn your Unite move, Barrage Blow. Activate it once for an all-around stat boost, then again for a terrifying rapid-fire storm of punches. It’s great for both general support and all-out offense.
