How to Get Precise Restoration in Crisis Core Reunion

When They Say Precise ... They Mean PRECISE.

In Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion — like its predecessor — there are a lot of minigames. This isn’t a problem normally, but some of these minigames require re-loading your save if you mess up. If you don’t, you miss out on the ability to unlock some achievements. Thankfully, the Precise Restoration minigame is not one of those. It’s a good thing it isn’t, because you’ll play it repeatedly before you succeed.

How to Get Precise Restoration in Crisis Core Reunion

The Precise Restoration minigame / achievement takes place in chapter four, in Professor Hojo’s lab. This area might seem familiar to those who’ve played Final Fantasy VII, because you’ve been here. To be frank, there are several optional sub-events to take advantage of here if you’re after that sweet platinum trophy.

In order to begin the Precise Restoration minigame, interact with the machine to Hojo’s left. There will be several machines in this room, so be sure you’re interacting with the correct one. You’ll know it’s the right one if it calls itself a ‘Mako Recovery Unit (MAX 100) Prototype’ and claims a malfunction has been found.

Ignore the machine’s warnings and throw the switch. To complete this minigame, you need to tap the X button exactly five seconds after the device activates. It will display a countdown, but conveniently, the countdown disappears after three seconds. So, keep count and press the X button when five seconds has passed. It will probably take several tries before you get it, but if you are absolutely struggling, then you can use your phone’s clock / stopwatch app to determine when to press the button.

It may take some repeat attempts, but thankfully, if you fail, it won’t affect your HP, MP, or AP. But, keep in mind that choosing to continue the story without completing this minigame will lock the Precise Restoration achievement until you start a new game. If you want to save this trophy for a later time, just create a manual save in Hojo’s lab and come back later. Just don’t overwrite that save!!
