I am about to blow your mind. If you’d rather work smarter than harder, this mission is actually not bad. It’s still going to take some time — you’re fighting 1,000 enemies, after all. But, if you’re well prepared in both level and materia, you can make a very long mission slightly shorter.

So, first things first, what level should you be when you take this mission on? I believe I was at least level 50, if not 51 or 52. You want your ATK to be as high as possible, even if you probably won’t be using many physical attacks. In terms of materia, you are going to want — ideally a fully-mastered Hell Firaga. It also helps to assign a fully-mastered Curaga while you’re at it. ALSO, go ahead and buy 99 Ethers. You will need them, I guarantee you.

OK — so, as soon as you enter the mission, you’re going to immediately start spamming Hell Firaga. If your ATK / MAG is high enough, you can probably clear an entire wave with 2-3 Hell Firaga castings. You’ll need to keep your eyes on your MP and use an Ether anytime you think you’ll run too low. If any enemies are lucky enough to land a hit on you, make sure you’re either using Curaga, or a potion if you don’t feel like wasting MP on non-offensive magic.

It helps to remember that each wave consists of nine regular troops at once, followed by one boss troop. That’s ten troops per wave, meaning you have to survive 100 waves of enemies with no break. It’s doable, just remember to keep a general idea of how many waves you’ve fought to give yourself some morale. If you don’t feel like manually keeping track, remember that each boss troop is named after a letter of the alphabet. It’ll go from A to Z, then reset. So, you’ll need to cycle through a little less than four complete cycles of the alphabet.
