How to Fix the Underwater Pipelines near the Fortress of Meropide in Genshin Impact?

Our purpose is in another canal.

Genshin Impact released an update that allows players to venture underwater. This came as a huge surprise because we hadn’t had the ability to swim before. Now that we can swim, there are new quests that require you to use this swimming ability.

One of those quests is called “Our Purpose Is In Another Canal,” and you’ll need to fix some pipelines. That’s right, it’s time to get to work, so we’re going to teach you how to fix the pipelines near the Fortress of Meropide in Genshin Impact.

How to Fix the Pipelines in Genshin Impact?

There are four pipes you need to fix near the Fortress of Meropide, and in order to fix them, you have to turn the valves to stop the gas from leaking. To start this quest, you need to speak to Balent and start the World Quest “Our Purpose Is In Another Canal.” After you have started the quest, go to the location on the map near the Fortress of Meropide.

Be sure to use Hunter’s Ray’s ability so you can grab the handwheel. This will help you to turn the valves necessary to decrease the pressure. If you’re not sure when to stop, Paimon will tell you when everything is ready. Next, you’re going to want to go to the pipes located on the map, kill necessary enemies, and follow this same method of turning the valve. If you’re still unsure of how the valves should be directed, we break it down for you:

  • South Pipe: Handwheel above South/Handwheel below West
  • North Pipe: Use Jellyfish ability to destroy Red Minies, Handwheel above South/ Handwheel below North
  • Close Pipe to Fortress: Handwheel South

How to Unlock Swimming Ability in Genshin Impact

If you want to start swimming and unlock this ability to explore different areas that have water, it’s very simple. All you need to do to unlock your swimming ability is by finding the statue in Fontaine, known as the Statue of the Seven. If you’ve managed to get this far into the game, you’re very aware of where these statues are located. If you’re not sure where they are, don’t worry; your Archon quests will guide you to them.
