In the world of Eorzea in Final Fantasy XIV, there exists a kind of consumable sea creature called Jhinga. Closely resembling the shellfish of our reality, Jhinga are said to be very popular on the island of Thavnair. But, because this catch cannot be purchased — only caught — it can be a tedious process to find Jhinga.
If you’re interested in methods of catching Jhinga in bulk, read on. By making clever use of select abilities in-game, you can not only increase your chances of catching this elusive crawdad. But, you can increase the amount of Jhinga that you catch as well!
How to Farm Jhinga in Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV)
You can start this process by traveling to Thavnair. Your destination is the northwestern coast, in the region known as The Perfumed Rise. Upon arriving, verify that you have the correct bait, which, in this case, is Mackerel Strips. If you don’t currently have any Mackerel Strips, or if you’d like some more for whatever reason, they can be purchased from a number of vendors across Eorzea.

As you start fishing, keep in mind that catching Jhinga will only trigger one exclamation point above your head. If at first you don’t succeed at catching Jhinga, use the Surface Slap skill to chase that particular fish away from the area, thus increasing your overall Jhinga chances. But, soon enough you’ll catch a Jhinga, at which point you can use the skill known as Triple Hook to triplicate your spoils.
If you repeat this process as often as you need, you can theoretically net an insane number of Jhinga. Just remember to be patient, as Triple Hook will drain you of GP, so you can’t abuse the system!
