In case you missed it, you can check out our tips for quickly increasing friendship with Kubfu. If you’re reading this, you are probably past that part and wondering which Tower you should visit. There are two choices, either the Tower of Water or the Tower of Darkness. Your choice will influence whether Kubu’s extra element is Water or Darkness.

If you go with the Tower of Water, your Kubfu will evolve into the Rapid Strike Water-type Urshifu. The Tower of Darkness evolves your Kubfu into the Single Strike Darkness-type Urshifu. As a side note, you will be able to Gigantamax your Urshifu when you get him.

The choice is yours to make, and it depends if you want or need another Water fighting Pokemon or Darkness fighting Pokemon in your rotation. Either way, you will have to fight your way up the Tower and complete five different battles. The battles are not all that difficult, and you should be fine going in around level 80 or higher. We found the top level Pokemon to be level 80.

After making your way up to the top of the Tower and defeat the Master, you will then have to either look at the Scroll of Water or Scroll of Darkness. After making your decision, Kubfu will evolve into Urshifu and be granted the second element fighting type. They look the same regardless of the element type; however, in Gigantamax Form, you will notice they are different colors.

That’s all there is to it. The towers ultimately influence the type of element that Kubfu gains after his evolution. Now it is up to you to decide whether you want to go with the Tower of Water or Tower of Darkness in Pokemon Sword & Shield.
