How to Counter Mega Venusaur in Pokemon GO

Mega Vanusaur is part of Mega Raids so one of the first things you’ll want is to have a Mega Pokemon yourself to face him. Additionally, since he is a Grass/Poison type Pokemon, the Fire, Psychic, Flying, and Ice types can really pack a punch on the guy.

So, the ideal choices here would be the Mega Charizard Y and Mewtwo. Mega Charizard Y can use his devastating Blast Burn, an attack that even outside this context puts him as one of the most powerful Fire-type Pokemon. On the other hand, Mewtwo has his signature move Psystrike which is fatal for the likes of Mega Venusaur.

After selecting Mega Charizard Y and/or Mewtwo in your lineup, make sure to choose more of the good counters for Grass/Poison-type Pokemon to follow them up if needed.

Important tip: Keep in mind that all types listed above as counters to Grass/Poison-type Pokemon (including Charizard and Mewtwo) deal 160% damage to Mega Venusaur.

What Do I Do if I Don’t Have Charizard or Mewtwo?

If you don’t have either Mega Charizard Y or Mewtwo for fighting Mega Vanusaur, don’t worry. You can still use any of the counters we mentioned to take him on. The key is just to have them evolve as high as possible. Moreover, if you think it’s necessary, call a friend to help you out. Mega Venusaur can be duoed so why not take higher chances of defeating him when you can?

Weather Matters

Lastly, don’t forget about the weather. Grass/Poison-type Mega Vanusaur is boosted by Sunny and Cloudy weather, so if you want to avoid him at his strongest avoid these environmental circumstances. Still, Fire-type Pokemon that counter him are also boosted during Sunny weather and Psychic Mewtwo will enjoy Windy weather.
