Where to Find the Sumpter Beast in Genshin Impact

In the Sumeru region of Genshin Impact, wealthy people gain much of their prestige by owning large herds of Sumpter Beasts. These shaggy dudes are gentle-hearted beasts of burden that can be found all over the region, as well as in a few special spots if you’re looking for a particular one. Here’s where to find the Sumpter Beast in Genshin Impact.

Where to Find the Sumpter Beast in Genshin Impact

Sumpter Beasts come in two general varieties: Shaggy Sumpter Beasts and Wild Sumpter Beasts. Shaggy Sumpters are calm and ambivalent to humans, and won’t show any overt hostility when you approach them. Wild Sumpters, meanwhile, haven’t been domesticated, so they may get aggressive and attack when you approach.

Both kinds of Sumpter Beast can be found all over Sumeru, especially in the Avidya Forest located between Sumeru City and The Chasm. Shaggy Sumpters can usually be found in domestic settings like small towns and farms, while Wild Sumpters will be in the depths of the forest, away from people.

The Sumpter Beastlord

In addition to regular Sumpter Beasts, there’s a special variety known as a Sumpter Beastlord. These big fellas are large and dangerous, but you’ll need to find one as part of the Sumeru quest, “Where Are The Fierce Creatures?” An NPC near the Palace of Alcazarzaray named Santon tasks you with finding several dangerous wild animals that have been menacing the local populace, and the Sumpter Beastlord is one of them.

The Sumpter Beastlord can be found in a small cave west of the Cinnabar Cliff waypoint, which is located right on the border between Sumeru City and The Chasm. You may need to wait until Paimon has a conversation with you about the Beastlord before you can find it; you can trigger this chat by wandering around the Spire of Solitary Enlightenment.

Be careful when fighting the Sumpter Beastlord. What it lacks in tactics, it makes up for in raw defense and HP. You’re going to want heavy-hitting, strength-based characters for this fight that can quickly tear up its HP.
