Therian Landorus Weaknesses and Raid Counters in Pokemon GO

Therian Landorus Weaknesses and Raid Counters in Pokemon GO

Here's a list of the best Therian Landorus counters in Pokemon GO so you can take advantage of those natural weaknesses.

As the de facto leader of the Forces of Nature, Landorus represents the verdure of the Earth and the might that comes with that. Whenever Tornadus and Thundurus get out of line with their storms, it’s Landorus that appears to knock some sense into them. Such a primal Pokemon is definitely not one to be casually messed with, especially when it’s in its beastial Therian forme. Here are Therian Landorus’s weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.

Therian Landorus Resistances and Weaknesses

Landorus, in both its Incarnate and Therian formes, is a paradoxical Ground/Flying type, giving it a bit of an unusual resistance makeup.

  • Resistant to: Electric, Fighting, Poison, Bug
  • Double-Resistant to: Ground
  • Weak against: Water
  • Double-Weak against: Ice

Therian Landorus is an extremely dangerous Pokemon; while its base defense and stamina aren’t anything special at 179 and 205, respectively, its base attack is a notably high 289. Couple with a max Raid CP of 2241, 2801 boosted, Therian Landorus starts dangerous and gradually moves up to being outright deadly.

Landorus Moves

Meanwhile, these are the moves available in Therian Landorus’s kit. Take note, as these have changed since the last time he was out and about:

Quick Moves

  • Mud Shot (Ground)
  • Extrasensory (Psychic)

Main Moves

  • Earthquake (Ground)
  • Bulldoze (Ground)
  • Stone Edge (Rock)
  • Superpower (Fighting)

Therian Landorus Counters

Considering its major weakness to Ice type moves, the logical pick to counter Therian Landorus is, of course, an Ice type. However, there’s a bit of a problem with this: Therian Landorus can use Superpower. While Superpower is only a mid-tier Fighting move, when combined with Therian Landorus’s high attack, it becomes a much bigger concern, especially for Ice types, which are weak to Fighting moves.

List of Therian Landorus Counters

  • Mamoswine – Powder Snow/Avalanche
  • Glaceon – Frost Breath/Avalanche
  • Mewtwo – Psycho Cut/Ice Beam
  • Avalugg – Ice Fang/Avalanche
  • Jynx – Frost Breath/Avalanche
  • Beartic – Powder Snow/Ice Punch
  • Vanilluxe – Frost Breath/Blizzard
  • Articuno – Frost Breath/Ice Beam
  • Mr. Rime – Ice Shard/Ice Punch
  • Abomasnow – Powder Snow/Weather Ball

If you’re choosing Ice types to fight Therian Landorus, you’re gonna want stocky ones with higher defense and a wide swath of resistances. Two good candidates for this are Mamoswine and Jynx. Mamoswine’s Ice/Ground typing makes it neutral to Rock and Ground moves, and its defense, while average, is higher than some of the more DPS-focused options. Its attack is also nearly as high as Therian Landorus’s, so it should be able to go toe-to-toe with it. Jynx has a similar stat readout to Therian Landorus, though its Ice/Psychic typing removes the Fighting weakness. It is still weak to Rock moves, though, so you want to make sure its CP is sufficiently high.

If you’d like to use a Legendary, your best candidates are Ice Rider Calyrex and Black Kyurem. While they are both weak to Rock moves, as well as Fighting moves in Kyurem’s case, their base attack and defense stats are more than a match for Therian Landorus, especially with doubled-up Ice moves.
