Scizor Weaknesses and Raid Counters in Pokemon GO

Scizor Weaknesses and Raid Counters in Pokemon GO

Here's a list of the best Scizor counters in Pokemon GO so you can take advantage of those natural weaknesses.

Way back when the second generation of Pokemon first came out, Scizor was one of the Pokemon I immediately took notice of. Where Scyther never made much of an impression on me, Scizor’s sleek body, powerful pincers, and steely gaze immediately made me feel like I had to have it. To this day it’s still one of my favorite Pokemon, and I always relish an opportunity to see it, either on my side of the battlefield or the other. If you encounter a Scizor in the latter situation, then here are Scizor’s weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.

Scizor Resistances and Weaknesses

Scizor is a Bug/Steel type, an esoteric mix that gives a lot of resistances and only one (albeit a critical one) weakness.

  • Resistant to: Normal, Bug, Steel, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, Fairy
  • Double-Resistant to: Poison, Grass
  • Double-Weak against: Fire

Scizor’s a powerful attacker Pokemon, with an above-average base attack of 236, a base defense of 181, and a base stamina of 172.

Scizor Counters in Pokemon GO

Scizor’s a bit of a glass cannon in that when it’s faced with something its either resistant to or has a type advantage over, it absolutely cannot be stopped, but against its lone major weakness, Fire types, there’s not much it can do. Fire types are typically only weak against Ground, Rock, and Water moves, and Scizor isn’t packing any of those, so as long as you’re using a Fire type and it doesn’t have any exposing secondary types, you pretty much can’t go wrong.

List of Scizor Counters

  • Reshiram – Fire Spin/Overheat
  • Chandelure – Fire Spin/Overheat
  • Darmanitan – Fire Fang/Flamethrower
  • Ho-Oh – Fire Fang/Flamethrower
  • Moltres – Fire Spin/Overheat
  • Blaziken – Fire Spin/Blast Burn
  • Heatran – Fire Spin/Flamethrower
  • Entei – Fire Fang/Overheat
  • Emboar – Ember/Blast Burn
  • Charizard – Fire Spin/Blast Burn

For a combination of both type safety and DPS potential, your Pokemon to pick would definitely be a regular Darmanitan. It’s a pure Fire type, so it’s clear in the weakness department (and is also resistant to both Bug and Steel moves), and it’s got plenty of vicious Fire type moves it can whip out on Scizor. If you don’t mind playing things a bit more dangerously, you could also try Chandelure, the king of Fire and Ghost type DPS, though it is weak to Dark moves, so you may be in trouble if Scizor’s packing Night Slash.

For Legendaries, Reshiram is your guy, bar none. Its high stats and Dragon/Fire typing makes Scizor nothing but a snack before it, and while it only has two Fire moves available, Fire Fang and Overheat, those moves have more than enough DPS to bring things to a swift conclusion.
