After chasing Tornauds all over a bunch of snowy hills in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, I have to say I have a little more respect for the noble creature. Or, wait, what’s the opposite of respect? Frustration and distaste? Yeah, that. Tornadus and his siblings annoy me, and so that’s why I relish every potential opportunity to stick it to them, whether they’re in their Incarnate forms or their Therian forms. Speaking of the latter, Therian Tornadus is heading up Legendary Raids in Pokemon GO, so let’s teach him some manners. Here are Therian Tornadus’ weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.
Therian Tornadus Resistances and Weaknesses in Pokemon GO
As is also the case with its Incarnate form, Therian Tornadus is a pure Flying type, which means its resistances break down like this:
- Resistant to: Fighting, Bug, Grass
- Double-Resistant to: Ground
- Weak Against: Rock, Electric, Ice
The primary differences between Incarnate Tornadus and Therian Tornadus are the base stats and available moves. Therian Tornadus has a base attack of 238, a base defense of 189, and a base stamina of 188. For this particular run of Raids, its CP range runs from 1,756 to 1,837, or 2,196 to 2,296 boosted.

Therian Tornadus Counters in Pokemon GO
Fighting Therian Tornadus is not unlike fighting a typical Flying type; the best things you could probably do to counter it would be to zap it, freeze it, or throw a rock at it. However, while going down the Ice or Rock routes may offer you some more DPS potential, it’s a bit of a risky play due to Therian Tornadus’ ability to use Focus Blast, a strong Fighting type move. As such, you might want to play it safe and go for an Electric type, which Therian Tornadus doesn’t have any consistent counters for.
Therian Tornadus Counters List
- Electivire – Thunder Shock/Wild Charge
- Zekrom – Charge Beam/Wild Charge
- Raikou – Thunder Shock/Wild Charge
- Rampardos – Smack Down/Rock Slide
- Rhyperior – Smack Down/Rock Wrecker
- Magnezone – Spark/Wild Charge
- Mamoswine – Powder Snow/Avalanche
- Terrakion – Smack Down/Rock Slide
- Therian Thunderus – Volt Switch/Thunder Bolt
- Shadow Mewtwo – Confusion/Thunder Bolt
When it comes to Electric types, the cream of the crop is definitely Electivire, which boasts stats roughly on par with Therian Tornadus’ own. With the typing edge that comes from doubled-up Electric moves, Electivire will have a natural edge over Therian Tornadus, and due to its pure Electric typing, it should be safe against most of Therian Tornadus’ kit.
Sometimes, though, you gotta fight a Legendary with a Legendary, and in this department, we’ve got two excellent options: Zekrom and Therian Thundurus. Both of these Pokemon are naturally resistant to most of the moves in Therian Tornadus’ kit, and both boast much higher base attacks, so their Electric moves can tear right through Therian Tornadus’ defenses.
