For Sustainability Week, which began today, April 20th, and will last until Monday, April 25th, you can obtain Timed Research Tasks by spinning PokeStop and Gym signs. These tasks are all focused on cleaning up trash and empowering nature’s Pokemon, as well as catching Pokemon with a natural or trashy theme. Complete these tasks, and you’ll earn rewards like Pokemon encounters, Mega Energy, and handy items.

Pokemon GO Sustainability Week Research Tasks and Rewards

Here’s the list of Research Tasks for Sustainability Week, as well as the rewards they provide:

  • Catch any five Grass type Pokemon – Rewards an encounter with Turtwig, Cherubi, or Snivy
  • Walk a cumulative 1km – Rewards a Cherubi encounter.
  • Catch 3 Grimers – Rewards a Trubbish encounter.
  • Catch 3 Trubbishes – Rewards a Silver Pinap Berry.
  • Walk a cumulative 3km – Rewards a Phantump encounter.
  • Perform a Power Up on any Pokemon five times – Rewards 50 Mega Venusaur Energy and 50 Mega Abomasnow Energy.

A couple of quick things to note here: firstly, you need to catch regular Grimers, not Alolan Grimers. Regular Grimers currently have their spawn rates boosted, though, so you shouldn’t have to worry about encountering Alolan ones.

Secondly, Trubbish, Snivy, and Turtwig all have the chance to appear as shiny, as well as Cherubi, who just got its shiny variant as of this event. You might get lucky!
