Hip hooray and happy day! Today’s the fifth anniversary of Pokémon GO! Yes, I’m aware Pokémon GO Fest isn’t until later this month, but the actual anniversary day is today. And hey, you know what I love to get on my birthday? Shiny things! Especially small, rotund, and cute shiny things! Darumaka would be perfect for this, but is there a shiny Darumaka in Pokémon GO?
As it so happens, yes! There is a shiny Darumaka in Pokémon GO, as of today in fact! Shiny Darumaka, and by extension its evolution Darmanitan, has just been added to the game’s PokéDex. As opposed to Darumaka’s usual deep red coloration, its shiny variation is a pleasant soft pink, making this cute Pokémon even cuter. Just to clarify, though, this new addition is only for the regular Darumaka and Darmanitan. Galarian Darumaka and Darmanitan do not have their shiny variants yet.
Is there a Shiny Darumaka in Pokémon GO?
So, how can you get your hands on a shiny Darumaka? Well, for the duration of the Pokémon GO fifth anniversary event, which runs from today, July 6th to Thursday, July 15th, you’ll have two routes to find lots of Darumakas, one of which will hopefully be shiny. The first is simply hunting in the wild; while the event is going, Darumakas, along with special Flying Pikachus, will be spawning more frequently in the wild. This is also a good chance to catch Darumakas in bulk and stock candy.
The other option is to conquer Raids. Darumaka and Flying Pikachu will be headlining 1-Star Raids, along with Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. If you happen to spot a pink Darumaka looming on the horizon, waste no time and take it down for a chance to catch it.
