Pokémon GO Season of Discovery Details and Schedule

While a young trainer often sets out on their Pokémon journey for the practical purpose of filling a PokéDex, there’s also a personal purpose: discovering the hidden beauties of the world and learning a little more about oneself. There’s a lot of fascinating things out there to discover, and that’s the theme of Pokémon GO’s newest season. Here’s the schedule and details on Pokémon GO’s Season of Discovery.

Pokémon GO Season of Discovery Schedule

Pokémon GO‘s Season of Discovery runs from Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 10 am Local Time to Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 10 am Local Time.

Pokémon GO Season of Discovery Wild Pokémon

First, let’s talk about wild encounters. According to Niantic’s announcement, the following Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in particular parts of the wild:

Cities

  • Alolan Rattata
  • Magnemite
  • Porygon

Forests

  • Bellsprout
  • Doduo
  • Skorupi

Mountains

  • Rhyhorn
  • Nosepass
  • Dwebble

Near Water

  • Magikarp
  • Marill
  • Wailmer

This isn’t an exhaustive list; Niantic has said that more Pokémon will be showing up in these spots as the season goes on. 

Additionally, certain Pokémon will spawn exclusively in either the northern or southern hemisphere. These Pokémon are:

Northern Hemisphere

  • Alolan Diglett
  • Staryu
  • Barboach
  • Petilil 
  • Treecko
  • Torchic
  • Mudkip
  • Summer Form Deerling
  • Sableye
  • Scyther
  • Combee

Southern Hemisphere

  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Alolan Vulpix
  • Shellder
  • Turtwig
  • Chimchar 
  • Piplup
  • Winter Form Deerling
  • Lickitung
  • Chimecho 
  • Cubchoo

Again, this isn’t exhaustive. Keep an eye out on Niantic’s social channels for changes.

Pokémon GO Season of Discovery Raids

Next, let’s talk Raids. Firstly, starting today, June 1st, the Golem trio, made up of Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, will be headlining five-star Raids until June 17th. Every Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM local time, there will also be a special Raid Hour where you’re guaranteed to encounter one of the Golems.

  • June 2: Regirock
  • June 9: Registeel
  • June 16: Regice

After that period ends, a new, unannounced Pokémon will take their place. Niantic is hyping up some new Raids for Pokémon GO Fest 2021, though they’re keeping who it’ll be a close secret.

The Mega Raid schedule for June has already been set out, though in a new system change, there will now only be one Mega Raid at a time. The Mega Raid schedule is as follows:

  • June 1-June 8: Mega Lopunny
  • June 8-June 17: Mega Slowbro
  • June 1-July 2: Mega Gyrados

Pokémon GO Season of Discovery Eggs

Finally, eggs will feature some new Pokémon. Here are some highlights from each egg type:

  • 2km Eggs: Meditite, Buizel, Spritzee, Swirlix
  • 5km Eggs: Togepi, Gligar, Skarmory, Bonsly
  • 10km Eggs: Timburr, Rufflet, Goomy, Noibat
  • 5km Adventure Sync Eggs: Cranidos, Shieldon, Skrelp, Clauncher
  • 10km Adventure Sync Eggs: Bagon, Beldum, Gible, Riolu

Don’t forget to keep your eye out for new Field Research Tasks and opportunities to earn rewards! Research Breakthroughs in particular will reward double XP and free Remote Raid passes throughout June.
