There’s still time to catch Pokemon GO‘s Lunar New Year 2021 Event this year. Trainers can participate in the annual event with exclusive research, Mega Gyarados, and a chance at a Tauros encounter to celebrate the year of the Ox. Here’s a look at the Pokemon GO Lunar New Year research quests and Field Research tasks and rewards.

Pokemon GO Lunar New Year is active from Tuesday, February 9 through Sunday, February 14, 2021, at 1 PM Local Time. During this time, red Pokemon appear more frequently in the wild, including Goldeen, Krabby, Magikarp, Magmar, Meditite, Miltank, Tepig, and others. Lucky Trainers can also pick up shiny Gyarados if fortune is in their favor.

Additionally, the 5km eggs now give you a chance at the following Pokemon: Bagon, Buneary, Ekans, Houndour, Litleo, Mankey, Mareep, Ponyta, Rattata, Tepig, and Torchic.

• Send 3 Gifts to friends: Meowth Encounter
• Send 10 Gifts to friends: Alolan Meowth / Galarian Meowth Encounter
• Catch 6 Water-type Pokemon: Miltank Encounter
• Catch 12 Pokemon: Meditite Encounter

There are also several Lunar New Year research quests to complete. Keep in mind that you can only achieve these during the actual event, so make sure to act before Sunday.

• Transfer 12 Pokemon: 10 PokeBalls
• Catch 7 Fire-type Pokemon: Charmander Encounter
• Send 1 Gift to friends: Goldeen Encounter
• Rewards: 1000 XP, 20 Mega Gyarados Energy, Miltank Encounter

Step 2

• Power up Pokemon 12 Times: 5 Razz Berries
• Evolve 3 Fire-type Pokemon: Torchic Encounter
• Send 3 Gifts to friends: Magikarp encounter
• Rewards: 1000 XP, 30 Mega Gyarados Energy, Tauros Encounter

Step 3

• Use 12 Berries to catch Pokemon: 10 PokeBalls
• Catch 15 Fire-type Pokemon: Tepig Encounter
• Send 5 Gifts to friends: Seaking Encounter
• Rewards: 1000 XP, 50 Mega Gyarados Energy, Miltank

Step 4

• Make 12 Great Curveball Throws: 3 Pinap Berries
• Catch 20 Fire-type Pokemon: Darumaka Encounter
• Send 7 Gifts to friends: Meditite Encounter
