Kommo-o Weaknesses and Raid Counters in Pokemon GO

Kommo-o Weaknesses and Raid Counters in Pokemon GO

Here's a list of the best Kommo-o counters in Pokemon GO so you can take advantage of those natural weaknesses.

Fans have theorized that Kommo-o is inspired by a combination of pangolins and Buddhist monks. Its jangly armored scales have a similar pattern and sound to the jangling rings that adorn a khakkhara, a staff typically carried by Buddhist monks. That certainly explains its combative tendencies and loud noises, though it’s anyone’s guess where the Dragon typing comes from. Maybe it’s got some dinosaur in it. Either way, Kommo-o is a rough and tough customer, and you want to be ready if you encounter one. Here are Kommo-o’s weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.

Kommo-o Resistances and Weaknesses

As a Dragon/Fighting type, the only Pokemon with such typing in the world, Kommo-o is an in-your-face fighter and doesn’t care who knows it. That typing gives it the following resistances:

  • Resistant to: Rock, Bug, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Dark
  • Weak against: Flying, Psychic, Ice, Dragon
  • Double-Weak against: Fairy

Kommo-o has above average offensive and defensive capabilities, with a base attack of 222 and a base defense of 240, though its stamina is a little low with a base level of 181. It has a max CP of 1,890, 2,363 with a weather boost, so those stats can get even higher.

Kommo-o Moves

These are the moves available in Kommo-o’s kit:

Quick Moves

  • Poison Jab (Poison)
  • Dragon Tail (Dragon)

Main Moves

  • Flamethrower (Fire)
  • Dragon Claw (Dragon)
  • Close Combat (Fighting)

Kommo-o Counters

Kommo-o’s high stats and wide swath of resistances make it a dangerous foe, against which type superiority is an absolute necessity. Its Dragon/Fighting typing eliminates most threats against it, either providing resistances to moves or countering its weaknesses. However, it does have one critical weakness with minimal counter options: Fairy types. Kommo-o is double-weak to Fairy moves, and the only thing in its kit that Fairy types are weak against is Poison Jab, which isn’t even its strongest Quick move.

List of Kommo-o Counters in Pokemon GO

  • Umbreon – Snarl/Foul PLay
  • Lickilicky – Zen Headbutt/Earthquake
  • Bouffalant – Zen Headbutt/Megahorn
  • Walrein – Waterfall/Earthquake
  • Greedent – Bullet Seed/Return
  • Kangaskhan – Mud-Slap/Outrage
  • Primarina – Charm/Moonblast
  • Starraptor – Quick Attack/Brave Bird
  • Toucannon – Peck/Drill Peck
  • Xerneas – Zen Headbutt/Moonblast

Out of all readily available Fairy type Pokemon, Primarina is definitely the best counter to Kommo-o. With doubled-up Fairy moves and above-average offensive stats of its own, Primarina is uniquely poised to exploit Kommo-o’s weaknesses. Alternatively, while it wouldn’t be quite as immediately effective, you could also try a Flying type like Starraptor or Toucannon. While Kommo-o isn’t as weak to Flying moves as Fairy moves, Flying types are generally more resistant to its kit, so it’s a slightly safer pick.

If you’d like to employ a Legendary, your best choice would be Xerneas. As a pure Fairy type with plenty of Fairy moves and powerful stats, it can more than exceed Kommo-o’s kit. You could also try Crowned Sword Zacian, whose Fairy/Steel typing eliminates its Poison weakness, though it does swap it with a Fire weakness, which Kommo-o has a stronger move for.
