Johto Collection Challenge

Pokemon GO: Johto Collection Challenge

Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto is coming up next, and some regional events have been taking place. The Johto region is next on the list this week in Pokemon GO. Like the previous week’s challenges, trainers will have to collect several region-specific Pokemon. A wide variety of special eggs, Pokemon spawns, new shinies, raids, and field research are also available. Here’s how to complete the Johto Collection Challenge in Pokemon GO.

The Johto Celebration Event takes place from January 26 through January 31, 2021.

How to Complete the Johto Collection Challenge

Here are the nine Pokemon you’ll need to catch for the Johto Collection Challenge:

  • Chikorita (wild, field research, raid)
  • Cyndaquil (wild, field research, raid)
  • Totodile (wild, field research, raid)
  • Sudowoodo (wild, field research)
  • Sunkern (wild)
  • Murkrow (wild)
  • Smeargle (photobomb)
  • Miltank (wild, field research, raid)
  • Larvitar (wild, raid, Timed Research)

Trainers will need to catch the featured Pokemon listed above within a specific timeframe. Rewards for completing the Johto Collection Challenge are 15 Poke Balls, 1 Incense, and 10 Ultra Balls. While the rewards might not seem like anything special, you’ll want to knock this challenge out for your Elite Collector Badge.

Many of these Pokemon have boosted spawn rates during the Johto Celebration Event. The following Pokemon will all be boosted from January 26 to January 31:

  • Aipom
  • Chikorita
  • Cyndaquil
  • Gligar
  • Hoppip
  • Mareep
  • Miltank
  • Murkrow
  • Slugma
  • Snubbull
  • Totodile
  • Yanma

You can see a good majority of the Pokemon required for the Johto Collection Challenge have boosted spawn rates. What about Sudowoodo and Larvitar?

Well, Larvitar is an event-exclusive 5km Egg hatch, so get prepared to do some walking. Other Pokemon that are hatching from 5km Eggs include:

  • Pichu
  • Cleffa
  • Igglybuff
  • Wooper
  • Tyrogue
  • Smoochum
  • Larvitar

Sudowoodo, on the other hand, is an encounter from completing the Johto Celebration Event exclusive Field Research tasks. We’re not exactly sure what the challenges will be yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
