Pokémon GO Global Challenge Arena Explained

While Pokémon training is primarily a competitive sport, it has lots of potential as a cooperative pursuit as well. From double battle to raids, a little bit of coordination can bring victory to everyone involved. So, how about we involve… the entire world! Here’s an explanation of Pokémon GO’s Global Challenge Arena.

The Global Challenge Arena is a special sub-event that appears during major events in Pokémon GO. Every time the Global Challenge Arena opens, the entire Pokémon GO playerbase is challenged to complete a particular goal within a specified time limit, with every player automatically contributing. Contrary to what the word “arena” may imply, the Global Challenge Arena is not a place for competition, but rather large-scale cooperation. Well, to be more specific, players will be cooperating while competing against CPUs. But surely the combined Pokémon training prowess of the entire world is more than enough to overpower a few measly CPUs, which is good, because we’re gonna need all hands on deck for this one.

Pokémon GO Global Challenge Arena Explained

Currently, and as of just today in fact, the Global Challenge Arena has opened alongside the launch of the Rivals’ Week event. For the duration of the event, all Pokémon GO players will be challenged to participate in a grand total of 40,000,000 raids. No, that’s not a typo, I meant to write 40 million. Luckily, you don’t need to actually win these raids, you just need to participate. Get in the fight, land a couple of moves, and you’re free to move on. In the event that the playerbase can successfully fill the Global Challenge Arena bar with 40 million raid participations, everyone will receive the reward of double catch Stardust.

The Global Challenge Arena will be open for the duration of the Rivals’ Week event, which lasts from now until Sunday, April 18 at 8:00 PM local time. So if you want to be able to say you helped an entire playerbase successfully do a thing, start getting into some raids.
