Galarian Weezing Counters and Weaknesses in Pokémon GO

I don’t know who came up with the idea to give Weezing a smoggy mustache and a literal stovepipe hat, but whoever it was, I sincerely hope they got a raise, because it’s brilliant. Anyone who’s anyone wants one of these dapper Pokémon, but if you want one, you’re gonna have to beat one in a Raid. Here are Galarian Weezing’s counters and weaknesses in Pokémon GO.

Galarian Weezing is a Poison/Fairy type, a bit of an esoteric combination with some very strong resistances and not many weaknesses. To be more specific, Galarian Weezing’s resistances break down like this:

  • Resistant to: Grass, Dark, Fairy
  • Double Resistant to: Fighting, Bug, Dragon
  • Weak to: Steel, Psychic, Ground

Meanwhile, these are the moves Galarian Weezing is packing in its kit:

Main Moves

  • Hyper Beam (Normal)
  • Sludge (Poison)
  • Play Rough (Fairy)
  • Overheat (Fire)

The absolute best pick for fighting a Galarian Weezing, if you’ve got one available, is Mewtwo. Mewtwo isn’t weak to any move in Galarian Weezing’s kit, can double up on weakness-exploiting Psychic moves, and besides everything, has naturally high DPS. If you bring a Mewtwo to this fight, it’s basically a forgone conclusion. If Mewtwo isn’t available, any other decently strong pure Psychic type like Alakazam or Espeon can get the job done.

You could also give a Steel type like Metagross or Excadrill a try. Both Metagross and Excadrill are resistant to the vast majority of Galarian Weezing’s kit, and both can double up on Steel and Ground moves, respectively. The only risk is if Galarian Weezing decides to bust out Overheat, as Steel types are weak against Fire moves.

For a more balanced pick, you can try a Ground type like Groudon or Rhyperior. While their resistances aren’t quite as broad, nor is their DPS as high, they can still deal plenty of damage with Ground moves without putting themselves in harm’s way.
