According to the PokéDex, the unusual coloration of a Galarian Slowpoke is caused by its brain absorbing the region’s mysterious ambient particles. I just assumed it had been sitting out in the sun too long and got sunburnt, but I guess that’s as good of an explanation as any. It’s certainly less off-putting than its evolved forms. Here’s how to evolve Galarian Slowpoke in Pokémon GO.
As part of the “A Very Slow Discover” event running in Pokémon GO from June 8th to June 13th, the Galar variation of Slowpoke will be added to the Pokémon GO PokéDex. Compared to the vanilla Slowpoke from Kanto, Galarian Slowpoke places more emphasis on its Psychic-type abilities over Water-type abilities, and that extends to its two evolutionary paths, Slowbro and Slowking. Galarian Slowbro is being added to the game alongside Galarian Slowpoke, with Galarian Slowking to come later. Rather fittingly for such a slow Pokémon, making those evolutions happen is a rather slow process.
How to Evolve Galarian Slowpoke in Pokémon GO
The first step to evolve Galarian Slowpoke is to obtain at least 50 Galarian Slowpoke candy. As usual, this can be accomplished by catching multiple Galarian Slowpokes or walking around with one as your buddy. You should make one your buddy either way, as that’s a component in step two.
While only Galarian Slowbro will be added along with Galarian Slowpoke during the event, the requirements to evolve both it and Galarian Slowking have already been made known. In order to evolve a Galarian Slowpoke into Galarian Slowbro, you need to catch at least 30 Poison type Pokémon while the Slowpoke is your buddy. Galarian Slowking has the same requirement, though instead of Poison types, you’ll need to catch 30 Psychic type Pokémon while the Slowpoke is your buddy.
Once you have the requisite candy and have caught enough Poison/Psychic-types for Slowpoke to get the message, you can evolve it. No word yet on when Galarian Slowking will be added to the Dex, but since its framework is already in the game, it probably won’t be a long wait.
