Pokémon GO has always been a game focused on community, both in the game itself and in the real world. The game becomes more fun when you play it with other people, both close friends and folks you’ve never even met before. If that’s not enough of an incentive for you to play, though, then perhaps the Ultra Unlocks will be. Here are all of the Ultra Unlock challenges and rewards in Pokémon GO Fest 2021.
Players who purchased GO Fest tickets for the celebration have received access to the Global Challenge Arena. Within the GCA are challenges for the entire Pokémon GO community to work towards as one. If the community finishes enough of these challenges, the Ultra Unlocks, special events set to take place in a few week’s time, will be activated, leading to opportunities for rare catches and acquisitions.
Pokémon GO Fest 2021: All Ultra Unlock Challenges and Rewards
We can’t give you a full list of the actual challenges available in the GCA because they rotate every hour, but so far, it’s been stuff like “Catch 130,000 Pokémon,” “Use 1,000,000 berries,” “Make 120,000 Great throws,” and so on. Keep an eye on GCA as the hour changes over so you can focus your efforts on whatever the challenge is. That said, if you’re coming in at this stage of the game, you won’t have much work to do, because as of writing, the community has already cleared enough challenges to activate two of the Ultra Unlocks, and I imagine the third’s not far behind.
So what are actually in the Ultra Unlocks? Well, we currently have details on two of the three: the first is themed to “Time,” increasing the spawn rate and shiny chance for fossil Pokémon like Cranidos and Shieldon, as well as futuristic, tech-based Pokémon like Porygon. This event will run from July 23 to August 3.
The second Ultra Unlock is themed to “Space,” and will bring Pokémon that are normally only found in particular regions of the world all over the place. Shiny Heracross will also become available at this time. This event will run from August 6 to August 17.
As for the final Ultra Unlock, which will be activated when (not if, when) the community completes 24 challenges, well… nobody knows yet. Niantic’s keeping a tight lid on the theme for this Unlock. All we know is that it’s slated to run from August 20 to August 31. Theories abound, from shiny variations of Dialga and Palkia to the debut of Arceus, but we won’t know for sure until it actually happens.
