Furfrou, for example, is pretty obviously a poodle, and is even billed as such in the Pokedex despite dogs not being a thing in the Pokemon world. Continuity aside, though, Furfrou’s shaggy hair makes it a prime candidate for grooming. If you think your Furfrou could use a little style update, then here’s how to change Furfrou’s form in Pokemon GO.

Including its basic shaggy state, Furfrou can be switched over to one of 10 alternate forms in Pokemon GO known as Trims, achieved through a combination of hairdressing and dying. Trims don’t actually serve any practical purpose; they don’t change Furfrou’s stats or competitive viability at all. They’re just something fun you can do with your Furfrou, though they may seem a bit less fun when you have to pay items for them.

How to Change Furfrou Form in Pokemon GO

Here’s how to change Furfrou form in Pokemon GO:

1. Get 25 Furfrou Candy and 1,000 Stardust
2. Go to Furfrou’s details page and tap Form Change
3. Select the Trim you want and confirm to switch

Changing Furfrou’s Trim works the same way as evolving a Pokemon. First, you need to catch enough Furfrou to earn 25 Furfrou Candy, then you need to get at least 1,000 Stardust together. Once you’ve got the materials, all you have to do is visit your Furfrou’s details page and tap the Form Change button. After that, just select the Trim you want and press confirm to spend the resources and switch it.

All Furfrou Trims and Regions

Here’s the rub: while Furfrou does have 10 possible Trims, only a handful are available anywhere and at any time. Most Trims are limited to particular real-world regions, while one particular trim, which was just recently added, is only available for a limited time. The Trims and their availability are as follows:

• Natural Furfrou: Default, always available everywhere
• Matron Furfrou: Always available everywhere
• Dandy Furfrou: Always available everywhere
• Debutante Furfrou: Only available in North and South America
• Diamond Furfrou: Only available in European, African, and Middle Eastetrn countries
• Star Furfrou: Only available in Asia-Pacific countries
• La Reine Furfrou: Only available in France
• Kabuki Furfrou: Only available in Japan
• Pharaoh Furfrou: Only available in Egypt
• Heart Furfrou: Available everywhere only during the Valentine’s Day event (February 10th-14th)

To clarify, the Furfrou itself can be from any region, you just need to be in a specific region to give it a particular local Trim. As for the Heart Trim, it will only be available for the duration of the Valentine’s Day event, though it’s a safe assumption it will return next year.
