Bouffalant Counters in Pokemon GO

Bouffalant Counters in Pokemon GO

Here's a list of the best Bouffalant counters in Pokemon GO so you can take advantage of those natural weaknesses.

Pokemon based on animals are typically pretty exaggerated in order to make them look more distinctly fantastical. However, while a Bouffalant’s horns are gigantic, its big blob of puffy hair isn’t actually that unusual. Have you ever seen a real-life buffalo? Those guys have hair that would make a disco dancer jealous. Much like those shaggy giants, Bouffalants can also be quite dangerous if approached haphazardly. To keep yourself from getting stomped or fro’d, here are Bouffalant’s weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.

Bouffalant Weaknesses and Resistances

Much like other Pokemon with clear animal inspirations, Bouffalant is a pure Normal type, which makes its resistances pretty open and shut:

  • Double-resistant to: Ghost
  • Weak against: Fighting

Bouffalant Counters in Pokemon GO

Bouffalant is a bit of a tricky Pokemon due primarily to its moveset. While your first instinct would be to attempt to counter it with a Fighting type, Bouffalant’s ability to use Zen Headbutt could prove potentially problematic to Fighting types without high defense. Even Pokemon with dual typing may find it difficult to crack Bouffalant’s defenses, at least without exposing themselves, so you may need to take a calculated risk in selecting your counter-pick.

List of Bouffalant Counters in Pokemon GO

  • Lucario – Counter/Aura Sphere
  • Conkeldurr – Counter/Dynamic Punch
  • Breloom – Counter/Dynamic Punch
  • Machamp – Counter/Dynamic Punch
  • Mewtwo – Confusion/Focus Blast
  • Blaziken – Counter/Focus Blast
  • SirFetchd – Counter/Close Combat
  • Alakazam – Counter/Focus Blast
  • Heracross – Counter/Close Combat
  • Hariyama – Counter/Dynamic Punch

In the pure DPS department, the strongest Pokemon you could use against Bouffalant would be Lucario. Lucario has a higher base attack than Bouffalant, plus a wide variety of powerful Fighting moves, and its partial Steel typing removes the usual Psychic weakness. However, Lucario is weak against Ground attacks, of which Bouffalant has several powerful options, and it has a lower base defense than Bouffalant, so it may not be able to win a drawn-out fight.

A safer pick may be Conkeldurr, who has respectable attack potential of its own and plenty of Fighting moves. While it is weak to Psychic moves, it has higher defense than Lucario, so it may have an easier time enduring a few quick Zen Headbutts than Lucario would have dealing with doubled Ground moves.

If you’d like to use a Legendary, your best option would be Single Strike Urshifu. Urshifu’s Fighting/Dark typing removes the Psychic weakness, and it isn’t weak to anything else in Bouffalant’s kit, so it’s a pretty safe choice all around.
