Pokemon GO Arlo Counters (April 2022)

Here are the counters for Arlo's rotation in Pokemon GO for April 2022.

They say that your fashion choices say a lot about you as a person. I can’t say I’ve ever known anyone either brave enough or lacking in self-awareness to rock giant hater-blocker goggles unironically, which tells you that Arlo of Team GO Rocket is either the most confident man in the world, the most socially inept man in the world, or worse, both. A guy like that doesn’t throw out Pokemon half-baked, so it’s important to know how to deal with him. Here are Arlo’s counters in Pokemon GO for April 2022.

As usual, Arlo will come at you with three rounds of Pokemon. The first round, he’ll always use the same partner Pokemon, then in rounds two and three, he’ll randomly select one from a pool of three Pokemon. Don’t forget, all of Arlo’s Pokemon are Shadow Pokemon, so they have above-average stats and the ability to use Frustration.

Pokemon GO Arlo Counters (April 2022)

Here are the Pokemon in Arlo’s April 2022 rotation:

  • Round 1: Exeggcute
  • Round 2: Salamence, Alolan Exeggutor, or Dragonite
  • Round 3: Scizor, Steelix, or Gardevoir

For round 1, we have Exeggcute, a Grass/Psychic type. While you could go for a Bug type to exploit its Psychic typing, it would actually be more to your advantage to go for a Fire type, and especially a hearty one like Darmanitan, Blaziken, or Entei if you want to go for the Legendary appraoch. Exeggcute isn’t that strong, especially against the likes of these particular Pokemon, which is good, because there’s a good chance we’re going to need them again later.

For round 2, our options are Dragon/Flying type Salamence, Grass/Dragon Alolan Exeggutor, or Dragon/Flying Dragonite. While Dragon types are generally pretty strong Pokemon, Arlo has shot himself in the foot by having all Dragons for his second pool, because they’re all weak against the same thing: Ice types. As such, any of the usual hard-hitting Ice types can hold down the fort, with the best candidates being Galarian Darmanitan, Glaceon, and of course, our good friend Mamoswine.

For round 3, we have Bug/Steel type Scizor, Ground/Steel type Steelix, and Fairy/Psychic type Gardevoir. If Arlo throws out Scizor or Steelix, this is where you’re going to want to have your Fire type from before pull double duty, as Steel types are weak to Fire moves. Exploiting weaknesses is especially important against these Pokemon, as both Scizor and Steelix have above-average defensive stats.

On the other hand, if Arlo sends out Gardevoir, this is where you’ll need your third-slot Pokemon, a specialist specifically chosen to exploit Gardevoir’s typing. To take out Gardevoir, you’re gonna want a strong Ghost or Poison type. This makes Gengar the best opponent for a Gardevoir given its Ghost/Poison typing, not to mention its naturally high DPS potential. Otherwise, Metagross and Roserade have the typing and chops to hold their own against Gardevoir, and Dialga and Hoopa are your ideal Legendary picks.

So, to recap, you’re gonna want a sturdy Fire type that can endure at least two opponents, a strong Ice type that can easily stand up to Dragon type Pokemon, and either a Ghost, Poison, or Steel type to serve as your specialist in case Gardevoir comes into play.
