Summer is upon us, which means it’s time to open up the windows and let in the fresh air and sunshine. Don’t actually go outside, though, there’s bugs everywhere. More importantly, if you went outside, you couldn’t enjoy Genshin Impact’s Summer Fantasia update, and you certainly wouldn’t be able to do it with your buddies. Here’s how to play Summer Fantasia with friends in Genshin Impact.

How to Play Summer Fantasia with Friends in Genshin Impact

As Summer Fantasia is just the name for Genshin Impact’s version 2.8 update, there are no major changes to the game’s existing multiplayer framework. You can still visit a friend’s world, or have them visit your world, and check out the new and limited-time areas, quests, and dungeons just as you always would.

However, the Summer Fantasia update does bring with it the temporary return of the Golden Apple Archipelago area, and with it comes a special co-op event called Reminiscent Regimen. In this event, you can play with your friends in three different oceanic competitions:

  • Descent: Jump from a high platform and land on other platforms, battling enemies as you make your way down.
  • Raid: Pilot Waveriders to various platforms around the ocean to defeat the enemies there.
  • Convoy: Protect a boat on the Driftstone Raft from incoming enemies and destroy barriers that block the boat’s path.

For any of these events, you can either have a friend join your world and opt to compete together at the Golden Apple Archipelago, or you can invite them directly from the competition menu. If no one’s around to play with you, you can also opt to play these events by yourself.

As a reminder, you’ll need to be at least AR 16 to play co-op with other players, so if you’re not there yet, make sure to start grinding up ranks before the Golden Apple Archipelago is no longer available.
