Menu navigation can be confusing at first and take some getting used to, but we went ahead and figured everything out for you. So, if you’re having some difficulty playing some MLB with your buddies, we got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about how to play against your friends in MLB The Show 21. We’ll also include some steps on sending out and accepting friend invites and game challenges and how to enable cross-play.
How to add a friend in MLB The Show 21
There are two things you’ll want to do before attempting to play with your friends in MLB The Show 21. First, make sure you are friends in the game. Here’s how to add your friends in MLB The Show 21.
- Press the menu button (select or middle button).
- Press “Friends” from the menu.
- Go to the “Requests” tab.
- Send a new friend request.
- Search by name.
Your friend should follow the same steps, except they should see an invite from you in the requests tab. The second thing to check is that cross-play is enabled. If you don’t know your name, you can find it on the upper lefthand corner of the main menu.
How to enable cross-play in MLB The Show 21
You can activate cross-play in MLB The Show 21 by going to your profile at the main screen’s top-right. Go into the “My Profile” page, and you should see an option to the player icon’s right to enable cross-play. With this mode on, you can play with friends who are on different platforms.
How to Play Against Friends in MLB The Show 21
If you have some friends online, and you have cross-play enabled, here’s how to play against friends in MLB The Show 21.
- Press the menu button (select or middle button).
- Press “Friends” from the menu.
- Find your friend on the list and click on their name.
- Invite them to an Exhibition Game.
- Adjust the settings and advance to the game.
If you want to play another game mode, like Diamond Dynasty, for instance, you’ll have to be inside that game menu first. When you load into the game mode, follow the same steps listed above. You can’t do an online franchise, but you can do Custom Leagues, which allow you to choose MLB teams or draft teams. The player who sends out the challenge will be home, and the other play will be away.
How to accept a friend’s game invite in MLB The Show 21
What if you’re trying to accept a friend’s invite to play a game of MLB The Show 21? Well, go to the main screen and press select (or middle button) again. Instead of going to friends, go to the “Game Challenges” option. You should see a game challenge in here, as long as you have one pending.
