Just like real-life animals, particular Pokémon have a fondness for particular types of weather. In many of the mainline games, certain Pokémon could only be caught at day or night, in rainy weather, in snowy weather, and so on. This has carried over as one of the major mechanics of Pokémon GO, as your local weather patterns heavily influence what kind of Pokémon spawn in the wild. But who’s got time to wait for Mother Nature to go bowling? If you want rain, make it yourself! Here’s how to get a Rainy Lure Module in Pokémon GO.
The ongoing Luminous Legends X event has introduced not only new Pokémon to the Dex like Swirlix, Spritzee, Goomy, and Xerneas, it’s also introduced some new game mechanics. Or, well, new iterations of existing mechanics. Generic Pokémon Lure Modules, when activated at a PokéStop, change the local weather to cause higher occurrences of particular Pokémon types. With the event, we’ve received a new Lure type: the Rainy Lure Module. When activated at a PokéStop, Water, Bug, and Electric type Pokémon will spawn in greater numbers for 30 minutes.
How to Get a Rainy Lure Module in Pokémon GO
There are two primary ways to obtain a Rainy Lure Module. The first and fastest is to simply buy one from the in-game shop for 200 PokéCoins, which is about $2.00 USD. If you’re not saving your PokéCoins for anything else, it’s a decent investment, especially while the event is going on.
If you’re strapped for cash, though, you can also get a Rainy Lure Module for free by completing particular Timed Research Tasks running during the Luminous Legends X event. There’s no singular event that’s guaranteed to give you one, though; you’ll have to check and see what’s available when you boot the game up.
Remember, if you want to get a Goomy all the way up to a Goodra, you’ll need to activate a Rainy Lure Module at a nearby PokéStop before you can give it the requisite candy.
