How to Catch Goomy in Pokémon GO

It’s weird how many Pokémon are effectively just blobs with faces. Ditto, Grimer, Gulpin, Solosis, and Goomy are all extremely blobby, and yet they all still somehow manage to be distinctive. Maybe that’s just the ol’ Pokémon brain at work; I’m sure some kid’s parents wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Well, as long as we’re on the subject of blobs, here’s how to catch Goomy in Pokémon GO.

As part of the Luminous Legends X event that’ll be running in Pokémon GO from tomorrow, May 4th at 10:00 AM to Monday, May 17th at 8:00 PM, Goomy, Swirlix, and Spritzee will all be added to the game’s PokéDex. Additionally, as the star of the show this time around will be the Fairy-type legendary Xerneas, spawn rates will be boosted for Fairy and Dragon-type Pokémon, which means you’ll want to take to the streets in search of this newly added trio. However, Goomy in particular may be a bit difficult to track down compared to Swirlix and Spritzee.

How to Catch Goomy in Pokémon GO

According to available information, Goomy will only be appearing in the wild during the event; no raids, eggs, or Field Research Tasks will feature one. That might not sound like a problem, given the boosted spawn rate, but you have to remember that other Fairy and Dragon Pokémon will also be spawning in droves.

In order to increase the likelihood of Goomy spawning over the other potential Pokémon, you’ll want to employ a standard lure at your local PokéStop, as well as an incense for when you’re out on the town. While it isn’t 100% confirmed yet, you could also try the new Rainy Lure Module, obtainable during the event from certain Field Research Tasks. Using a Rainy Lure Module will change the in-game weather to rain, which attracts Bug, Water, and Electric-type Pokémon. However, Goomy also loves rain; in fact, you can only evolve Sliggoo into Goodra while it’s raining out. Considering that relationship, it’s a safe bet that Goomy will show up if one of these lures is utilized. Barring that, you’re just gonna have to roll the dice on the spawn rate and hope you get lucky.
