How to Beat Registeel in Pokemon GO

Out of the Legendary Titan Pokemon trio (or sextet now, I suppose), Registeel is definitely my favorite. He’s just so… round, y’know? And it just looks oddly fitting when he shoots giant lasers out of his face. If you’re a Registeel fan too, then good news, you can take one on as a raid boss in Pokemon GO. Here’s how to properly tackle a Registeel.

Nerves of Registeel

If you know your Pokemon typing, and you should, you know that Registeel is a pure Steel type. As a pure Steel type, Registeel is resistant to, in no particular order, Bug, Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Grass, Ice, Normal, Psychic, Rock, Poison, and other Steel types. That cuts out a pretty sizable chunk of the PokeDex, huh? Luckily, pure Steel types are weak against Fighting, Ground, and Fire types. Your best bet for a counter Pokemon is one with a typing advantage that isn’t also weak to Steel’s advantages, those being Fairy, Ice, and Rock.

How to Beat Registeel in Pokemon GO

Registeel is a sturdy guy, with a Combat Power of 33516, so the name of the game here is DPS. You want to deal as much damage as possible as quickly as possible before he smacks you down. With this in mind, speedy Fire types like Chandelure and Moltres are excellent choices. Not only are they quick, their Fire typings will lessen the damage dealt by Registeel’s Steel attacks, allowing them to stay in the fight longer.

If you don’t mind playing the long game, Heatran is a promising choice, as its dual Fire/Steel typing makes it especially sturdy against Registeel’s Steel attacks. However, Registeel does know some Fighting type attacks, so this approach carries some risk. If you wanna go whole-hog from the get-go, a Blaziken, with its dual Fire/Fighting typing, can go at Registeel from just about any angle, charging in with Blast Burn and fending off attacks with Counter.

A team of around six trainers would be your best bet for dealing with Registeel swiftly. If everyone’s got the right types on hand, you should be able to make short work of him.
