How to Ascend Characters in Genshin Impact

To ascend your characters in Genshin Impact, you will first need to level them to twenty and have an Adventure Rank of 15 or higher. After they are level twenty, you will see an Ascend button on the character screen. Each character requires a different item depending on their element to Ascend them. Luckily, you can purchase most of these items for Anemo Sigils from Marjory in Mondstadt. Look for the NPC with a diamond over her head.

The Character Ascension Materials you need to ascend your characters include:

  • Agnidus Agate Sliver
  • Varunada Lazurite Sliver
  • Vayuda Turquoise Sliver
  • Shivada Jade Sliver
  • Prithiva Topaz Sliver
  • Vajrada Amethyst Sliver
  • Brilliant Diamond Sliver

Open up your character window and select any of them. On the bottom right of the screen, click “Details.” You can then see a “Level Up” button. Click on it and use any of your Hero’s Wit (epic), Adventurer Experience (rare), or Wanderer’s Advice (uncommon) to level them up.

For example, the Traveler (your starting character) requires a Brilliant Diamond Silver. You cannot purchase this one from Marjory, and you can only get it at Adventure Rank 15 from the Adventurers’ Handbook. In addition to the Slivers, you will need other materials like Calla Lilies and such. Click on the items to see where you can find them on the map.

Ascending the character opens up their level cap to 40. Doing this also unlocks a new talent and adds base HP, base DEF, base ATK, and ATK. We recommend focusing on one particular character at a time, especially if you plan to use it throughout the game.
