Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) – Where to Find Earthbreak Aethersand

It's not just sand, it's earthy sand.

Someone told me once that dirt is dirt, and there’s no difference between one kind of dirt and another. That’s not true, though! Different kinds of soil and sand have all kinds of different applications, especially when they’re magically charged with the power of the elements like in Final Fantasy XIV. If you’re curious about the applications of fancy dirt, then here’s where to find Earthbreak Aethersand in Final Fantasy XIV.

Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) – Where to Find Earthbreak Aethersand

Earthbreak Aethersand is a crafting reagent in Final Fantasy XIV. It can be used in the creation of a handful of helpful items like Zoisite and Craftsman’s Alkahest, as well as meals like Jhinga Curry. No, I don’t know how one incorporates magic sand into curry, I just know it works.

If you want to go the crafting route, you’ll first need the ability to perform Aetherial Reduction. This action, unlocked by completing the level 56 quest “No Longer a Collectible,” allows you to break down particular items into their component parts. Depending on the rarity of the item you use, you may receive Crystals, Clusters, and luck willing, Aethersand.

For Earthbreak Aethersand in particular, you’ll want to perform Aetherial Reduction on one of two kinds of items:

  • Earthen Quartz: Obtained by quarrying at the The Numbing Brand in Mare Lamentorum (X:21.7, Y:34.7)
  • Sophora Roots: Obtained by harvesting at Logistikon Gamma in Labyrinthos (X:10.6, Y:34.8)

If you’re having trouble sourcing the materials, your other option for obtaining Earthbreak Aethersand is to just buy it. You can buy the stuff for 300 Purple Gatherers’ Scrip at the Scrip Exchanges in these cities:

  • Eulmore
  • Old Gridania
  • Idyllshire
  • Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks
  • Mor Dhona
  • Old Sharlayan
  • Radz-at-Han
  • Rhalgr’s Reach
  • The Crystarium
  • Ul’dah – Steps of Thal

There are also a handful of specific merchants that sell Earthbreak Aethersand for the same price tag of 300 Scrip, found at these spots:

  • Anna at The Firmament (X: 14.2, Y: 12.6)
  • Diana at The Firmament (X: 9.7, Y: 8.3)
  • Lor Ul at Il Mheg (X: 16.5, Y: 33.9)
  • Sanana at The Ruby Sea (X: 28.3, Y: 15.3)

Whether you buy it or make it, you’ll soon be rolling in fancy sand like a spoiled chinchilla. It’ll be awesome.
