According to the Pokedex, a Dusclops’ bandage-like body is actually entirely hollow. That makes sense, given its Ghost typing, but then what’s on the inside? Turns out it’s a supernaturally-dense black hole. A Dusclops’ cycloptic eye serves both to hypnotize foes, aided by its wiggly fingers, and a portal into that infinite darkness. What happens to those who pass into that darkness? Eh… it’s probably best not to think about it. To prevent yourself from landing a one-way ticket into oblivion, here are Dusclops’ weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.
Dusclops Resistances and Weaknesses
Dusclops is a pure Ghost type, which means its resistances break down like this:
- Resistant to: Poison, Bug
- Double-resistant to: Normal, Fighting
- Weak against: Ghost, Dark
While it only has one type, since Ghosts normally nullify Normal and Fighting type moves in mainline Pokemon games, that translates to doubled resistance in Pokemon GO.
Dusclops Moves
These are the moves available in Dusclops’ kit:
Quick Moves
- Feint Attack (Dark)
- Hex (Ghost)
Main Moves
- Ice Punch (Ice)
- Shadow Punch (Ghost)
- Fire Punch (Fire)
Dusclops Counters
Dusclops has an above-average defense for a second-tier evolution, with a base rating of 234. Its base attack, however, is nothing to write home about at just 124. Ergo, the best way to handle Dusclops is to exploit the universal weakness held by nearly all Ghost type Pokemon: other Ghost type Pokemon.
List of Dusclops Counters
- Darkrai – Snarl/Shadow Ball
- Chandelure – Hex/Shadow Ball
- Gengar – Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball
- Hoopa – Astonish/Shadow Ball
- Mewtwo – Psycho Cut/Shadow Ball
- Weavile – Snarl/Foul Play
- Yveltal – Snarl/Dark Pulse
- Absol – Snarl/Payback
- Zoroark – Snarl/Foul Play
Ghost types have some spectacular DPS contenders, so as long as you can deal exponentially more damage than Dusclops can dish out, you can topple it in a straightforward DPS race. For this purpose, we call once again on the grandmaster of Ghost types, Chandelure, with its mighty base attack of 271. To a lesser extent, Gengar can also win this fight, and if you can Mega Evolve it, you can bring it to an even swifter conclusion.
The only thing you might want to be careful about is being under-leveled. Since Dusclops uses both Ghost and Dark moves, which Ghost types are weak against, your Ghosts may struggle if they’re not strong enough to knock Dusclops down immediately. If you’d like a safer pick, try a pure Dark type like Zoroark or Absol. Dark types are resistant to both Ghost and other Dark moves, and while not to the extent of Chandelure, Zoroark is definitely no pushover in the attacking department.
If you’d like a Legendary pick, Shadow Rider Calyrex definitely has the DPS to pay the bills, though if you’re still worried about those Ghost and Dark weaknesses, you can play it safe with Darkrai, who’s plenty strong and has Dark typing to keep it safe.
