Does MLB The Show 21 have Online Franchise?

Despite the variety of impressive additions to this year’s model of MLB The Show, a few notable modes and features are missing from the game, most notable Online Franchise mode. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to take over a franchise with multiple people online.

The news may come as a disappointment to most, as this game mode has been one of the most requested featured in recent years. MLB The Show remains one of the few sports games that does not offer an online option for their Franchise mode. That being said, there is a way you can go about playing in an online league with your friends through Custom Leagues.

Custom Leagues allows you to create or join an online league and play through multiple seasons operating the ins and outs of an MLB franchise. It’s worth noting that Custom Leagues does not offer all the same features as the Franchise mode, but it’s something nonetheless.

One caveat is the fact that only the teams included in a Custom League are available to control. If you have three players in your league, there will only be three teams playing in the league, which means AI not be controlling any teams. Also, there are no actual Franchise mode features, so it’s more of a competitive league than a real MLB Season.

So, while it’s not technically the same beast as Online Franchise mode, it’s the best alternative if you want to play online with your friends. All we can hope for is that MLB The Show corrects this in the future and creates a more diverse Online Franchise experience.
