How to Unlock Chaos Equipment in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Trials of the Dragon King

Because you didn't have enough Chaos in your life yet.

Here’s a fun fact: the original trailer for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin had a character say the word “Chaos” eight times over the course of a few minutes. I can’t even begin to fathom the precise Chaos count in the full game, but if by some bizarre miracle you don’t have enough Chaos in your life, there’s a way to get more. Here’s how to unlock Chaos Equipment in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin Trials of the Dragon King.

How to Unlock Chaos Equipment in Trials of the Dragon King

Chaos equipment is a new kind of gear added in the Trials of the Dragon King expansion for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Basically, pieces of Chaos equipment, in addition to being generally strong and high-level, have special Chaos abilities attached. These Chaos abilities can offer all kinds of buffs, from more general stat increases to specialized improvements like higher damage against certain enemy types.

In order to get these powerful weapons, however, you’re going to need to put your nose to the proverbial grindstone. Chaos equipment only drops on higher difficulty levels, which means if you’re playing on the Normal difficulty, you can’t get it at all. To get Chaos equipment, you need to be playing on Hard difficulty at the bare minimum, though your odds of obtaining Chaos equipment will increase if you’re playing on CHAOS or Bahamut difficulty.

This means that, if you want the best possible equipment for your party, you’re going to have to play the game on the hardest difficulty setting available. As the lion’s share of the new content added in the Trials of the Dragon King expansion is only available after you’ve beaten the game’s main story at least once, you should (hopefully) already be up to the challenge.
