What is the Pokemon Elite Trainer Box?

I, like many youths of the 90s, collected Pokemon cards growing up. I had no idea how to play with them, and still don’t to this day, but the art is pretty awesome. I’m admittedly not sure how much crossover there is between Pokemon’s various… departments, if you will, but if you’re someone who both plays the Pokemon Trading Card Game and Pokemon GO, you may be interested in an upcoming collaboration. So, what is the Pokemon Elite Trainer Box?

What is the Pokemon Elite Trainer Box?

Announced earlier this year, the Elite Trainer Box is part of a collection of new Pokemon TCG trading cards directly inspired by the characters and setting of Pokemon GO. If you were hoping for some kind of crossover event in Pokemon GO proper, then unfortunately, you’re not getting that. This is just a TCG thing. If you play the TCG, though, you’ll have a lot of options for new cards this summer!

The first wave of Pokemon GO expansion cards for the Pokemon TCG will be dropping on July 1st, 2022. These new cards can be obtained from the following products, which will become available at most major retailers on that day:

• Pokémon TCG: Pokémon GO Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box Plus (exclusive to Pokemon Center storefronts in the US, UK, and Canada)

• Pokémon TCG: Pokémon GO Collection

More cards in this expansion will be released at an unspecified later date. Just a heads up, booster packs of this set won’t be sold individually. You can only get them as part of one of these listed products.
