Rhyperior is definitely one of the coolest late-stage evolution additions in Pokemon history. Rhydon was already a pretty cool Pokemon, so covering it with armor plating and giving it pinball launchers in its hands was pretty much a straight upgrade. It helps that it’s a great utility Pokemon, with a sturdy mix of offense and defense, as well as a nice variety of moves to pick from. Which of those moves can make the greatest possible impact, though? Here is Rhyperior’s best moveset in Pokemon GO.

Rhyperior, a Ground/Rock type, has the following moves available in its kit:

Quick Moves

• Mud-Slap (Ground)
• Smack Down (Rock)

Main Moves

• Earthquake (Ground)
• Stone Edge (Rock)
• Surf (Water)
• Skull Bash (Normal)
• Superpower (Fighting)
• Rock Wrecker (Rock, Elite TM)
• Frustration (Normal, Shadow Rhyperior only)
• Return (Normal, Purified Rhyperior only)

Rhyperior Best Moveset in Pokemon GO

The downside to using a Rhyperior is that, strong as they are, they’re not great at covering their weaknesses. With the exception of Steel types, which are weak to Ground moves, none of the types that Rhyperior is weak against have any consistent weaknesses to anything in its kit. The best course of action, then, is to lean into moves with the same type as Rhyperior, Ground and Rock, to maximize your STAB damage and make up the difference.

Keeping this philosophy in mind, the best Quick and Main moves you could employ on Rhyperior, whether you’re going for an offensive or defensive build, are Mud-Slap and Rock Wrecker. Those two moves together give Rhyperior a combined DPS potential of 52.1, very respectable. Of course, as Rock Wrecker is an Elite move, you need an Elite TM to use it. If you don’t have an Elite TM for Rhyperior, you’ll need to sub Rock Wrecker out with something else. In that case, the closest approximation of Rock Wrecker’s DPS would probably be Earthquake, which is a little slower, but makes up for that with additional damage, plus it still gets STAB from its Ground typing.
