Alolan Marowaks take it further, using their burning bone clubs to perform elaborate ritualistic dances to memorialize departed friends and family, growing stronger in its fervor. You definitely can’t take that kind of resolve and dedication lightly, especially in a fight. To give you a proper chance, here are Alolan Marowak’s weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.

Alolan Marowak Resistances and Weaknesses

Unlike a regular Marowak, which is a pure Ground type, an Alolan Marowak is a Fire/Ghost type, which means fighting it is a completely different ball game. Here are the resistances that come with that typing:

Alolan Marowak is a balanced fighter with fairly average stats. It has a base attack of 144, a base defense of 186, and a base stamina of 155. For its current run on three-star Raids, Alolan Marowak has a CP range of 988 to 1,048, or 1,235 to 1,311 boosted.

Alolan Marowak Counters in Pokemon GO

When it comes to fighting Ghost types, your first instinct is probably to use a Ghost of your own, since Ghost types are weak against other Ghost types. Of course, that weakness obviously goes both ways, so if you’re going to employ a Ghost type you need one with either a lot of attack or a lot of defense to defeat your opponent quickly or outlast them, respectively.

If you’re going the Ghost route, the best picks would probably be Chandelure or Gengar. These Pokemon due carry risks, as they’re both weak to both Ghost and Ground moves, which Alolan Marowak has both of. However, their defensive stats are roughly equivalent to Alolan Marowak’s, while their attack stats are much higher, which means, barring any sudden disasters, either of them should be able to win an old-fashioned DPS race.

Alternatively, instead of gunning for Alolan Marowak’s Ghost typing, you can target its Fire typing with a Water type. For this route, Kingler is your best choice. It has roughly the same stat readout as Chandelure without the weaknesses, so while it’s not quite as proficient in raw DPS potential, it’s still more than capable of outlasting an Alolan Marowak.
