Draconic traits seem oddly… transmissible between Pokemon, for lack of a better word. You’d think you wouldn’t be able to just become a dragon at a moment’s notice, but I dunno, maybe there’s some sort of commonality in Pokemon DNA that facilitates that transformation. Though, apparently, DNA or not, that transformation can’t happen without the right equipment. In Seadra’s case, the right equipment is a genuine scale from an indeterminate Pokemon. Here’s how to get the Dragon Scale in Pokemon GO.
The Dragon Scale is a special evolutionary item in Pokemon GO, in the same category as items like the King’s Rock, Metal Coat, Sinnoh Stone, and so forth. The Dragon Scale is used to evolve exactly one species of Pokemon: Seadra into Kingdra, changing it from a pure Water type to a Water/Dragon type. Kingdra is an excellent Pokemon when classified by either type, so it certainly wouldn’t hurt to get your hands on one.
How to get the Dragon Scale in Pokemon GO
Unfortunately, much like most evolutionary items, whether or not you can get a Dragon Scale is up to the whims of luck. The only way to get a Dragon Scale is by having it drop from a spun PokeStop sign, the chances of which are about 1%. Even if you hit that 1%, that statistic applies to all evolutionary items, so you’re not even guaranteed to get a Dragon Scale.
The only way to improve these odds is through sheer persistence. Your odds of receiving any evolutionary item, Dragon Scale included, are boosted once you’ve spun at least 250 PokeStop signs and boosted further if you spin signs every day for seven days straight. On that seventh day, you are guaranteed at least one evolutionary item, so cross your fingers and hope it’s a Dragon Scale.
