Alolan Graveler Weaknesses and Raid Counters in Pokemon GO

Alolan Graveler Counters in Pokemon GO

Here's a list of the best Alolan Graveler counters in Pokemon GO so you can take advantage of those natural weaknesses.

Normal Gravelers are made of plain ol’ rocks (don’t ask how), but due to the particular topography of some of the Alolan islands, some of the rocks have naturally conductive properties. Gravelers ain’t that picky about the rocks they eat, so they chow down and begin growing electrically-conductive crystals on and in their bodies, leading to their rather bizarre typing. This is why you can’t fight an Alolan Graveler in the same way you would fight a regular Graveler. To help you learn the difference, here are Alolan Graveler’s weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.

Alolan Graveler Resistances and Weaknesses

While a normal Graveler would be a Rock/Ground type, Alolan Graveler swaps out the secondary typing for Electric, making it a Rock/Electric type. That means its resistances break down like this:

  • Resistant to: Normal, Poison, Fire, Electric
  • Double-Resistant to: Flying
  • Weak against: Fighting, Water, Grass
  • Double-Weak against: Ground

Alolan Graveler Counters in Pokemon GO

The best Pokemon Go Alolan Graveler counters are Garchomp, Excadrill, Rhyperior, Rhydon, and Landorus. Normally, when dealing with Rock type Pokemon, your first choice would be to use a Water type. While Alolan Graveler is still weak against Water moves, using a Water type isn’t a great idea here, since Water types are weak against Electric moves. However, while becoming an Electric type has lessened one of Graveler’s biggest weaknesses, it’s also amplified another one: Ground types. Both Rock and Electric type Pokemon are weak against Ground moves, meaning Alolan Graveler is double-weak to them. Even better, Ground types are some of the kings of DPS.

  • Garchomp – Mud Shot/Earth Power
  • Excadrill – Mud-Slap/Earthquake
  • Rhyperior – Mud-Slap/Earthquake
  • Rhydon – Mud-Slap/Earthquake
  • Landorus – Mud Shot/Earth Power
  • Therian Landorus – Mud Shot/Earthquake
  • Groudon – Mud Shot/Earthquake
  • Golurk – Mud-Slap/Earth Power
  • Mamoswine – Mud-Slap/Bulldoze

When it comes to strong Ground types, any of the usual suspects will work just peachy. Garchomp, Rhyperior, or Excadrill can all pound an Alolan Graveler into a fine, rocky mist with little effort. Not only do all three have plenty of Ground type moves to choose from, but they’re also all resistant to Rock type moves and double-resistant to Electric type moves (triple resistant in Garchomp’s case). Alolan Graveler’s base stats aren’t that impressive to begin with, so if you go at it with one of these Pokemon, it’ll be comically one-sided.

It’s not even remotely necessary, but if you’d like to add insult to injury and use a Legendary, Therian Landorus is your guy. His Ground/Flying typing offsets Flying type’s usual weakness to Rock moves, so there’s nothing to worry about there.
