How to Beat Arlo in Pokemon GO (February 2022)

Learn how to beat Arlo in Pokemon GO in February 2022, including a look at the full Pokemon lineup and some solid counters for an easy win.

According to Pokemon GO’s lore, Arlo is one of the primary minds behind Team GO Rocket’s Shadow Pokemon initiative, so you can probably guess as to the kind of person he is. He’s callous, haughty, and generally unpleasant, but unfortunately, you don’t always have to be a good person to be a proficient Pokemon Trainer. What do you say we take him down a few pegs? Here’s how to beat Arlo in Pokemon GO for February 2022.

Like the other Rocket leaders, Arlo has three rounds of Pokemon he’ll throw at you. The first round will always be his designated partner Pokemon, then in the second and third rounds, he’ll pick one from two pools of three Pokemon. It should be noted that all of Arlo’s Pokemon are Shadow Pokemon, which means they have above-average stats and can use Frustration.

How to Beat Arlo in Pokemon GO (February 2022)

Here are the Pokemon in Arlo’s current rotation:

  • Round 1: Bagon
  • Round 2: Charizard, Blastoise, Steelix
  • Round 3: Scizor, Dragonite, Salamence

For round 1, we have Bagon, a pure Dragon type. This one’s pretty open and shut; all you need is a good Ice type to exploit Bagon’s primary weakness. As usual, when it comes to Ice types, the best choice is our good friend Mamoswine, though Galarian Darmanitan will work just as well. Try not to let that Ice type get knocked out, as we may need them again later.

For round 2, we’ve got a choice of Charizard, a Fire/Flying type, Blastoise, a pure Water type, and Steelix, a Steel/Ground type. The second and third members of your Pokemon lineup should be Electric and Fire types specifically to keep the advantage in this round. If Arlo throws out Charizard or Blastoise, you want a strong Electric type like Electivire, Thundurus, or Zekrom. Flying and Water are both weak to Electric, so it’ll work in either case. If Arlo throws out Steelix, you’ll want to employ a Fire type like a regular Darmanitan or Moltres. You definitely want a Fire type with a good defensive stat, as you might need to have them pull double duty in the next round.

For round 3, we’ve got Scizor, a Bug/Steel type, Dragonite, a Dragon/Flying type, and Salamence, another Dragon/Flying type. If Arlo throws out Scizor, this is when that Fire type is going to need to pull double duty, as Fire is Scizor’s lone weakness. If Arlo throws out Dragonite or Salamence, this’ll be the time to bring back that Ice type so you can exploit their Dragon typing again. In a pinch, you can have a Zekrom pull double duty if you brought one along since it can use Dragon moves. Just be careful, as it’s weak to Dragon moves itself.
