Introduced in Generation VI, Fairy was the first new Pokemon type brought to the series since Generation II, and still remains the newest addition to the spreadsheet since. The addition of Fairy types shook up a lot of existing power structures in type superiorities, with one such example being a new type for Dragons to be weak against. Fairy types are a bit ephemeral, though, so you might not be able to tell at a glance which ones are the strongest. So, what is the best Fairy type Pokemon in Pokemon GO?

“Best” is obviously a bit of a vague quantifier, but for the sake of simplicity, we’re going to say that the “best” Pokemon here is the one with the highest damage-dealing potential. We’re also going to have a few different sub-categories of Fairy type just for a bit of diversity, so you have other viable options in case you don’t have one of the Pokemon listed.

What is the Best Fairy Type Pokemon in Pokemon GO?

  • Gardevoir
  • Mega Altaria
  • Hero Zacian

First, let’s start with the best pure Fairy type. That’s a Pokemon with only Fairy typing, no additional types. With an optimized DPS of 11.67 and a total damage output of 587.66, the best pure Fairy type is Sylveon.

Next, we have the best mixed-Fairy type. This is a Pokemon with two types, one of which being Fairy. The best mixed-Fairy type Pokemon is Gardevoir, a Psychic/Fairy type with an optimized DPS of 14.76 and a total damage output of 564.67.

Third, we have Shadow Fairy types. Shadow Pokemon, as a reminder, are captured from members of Team GO Rocket, and have their offensive stats boosted. The best Shadow Fairy type is, once again, Gardevoir, with an optimized DPS of 16.89 and a total damage output of 646.06.

Fourth, we have Mega Fairy types. These are Pokemon that either gain or maintain Fairy typing after Mega Evolution. The best Mega Fairy type is Mega Altaria, with an optimized DPS of 17.60 and a total damage output of 796.20.

Fifth and finally, we have Legendary Fairy types. These are officially recognized Legendary Pokemon with at least a partial Fairy typing. The best Legendary Fairy type is Hero Zacian, with an optimized DPS of 14.93 and a total damage output of 768.89.
