Between the two of them, Nidoqueen is often chosen for defensive and support roles over Nidoking. While Nidoking is stronger, Nidoqueen’s stats are more balanced, and on an aesthetic level, she’s a little less freaky looking. But even if she’s not as physically strong as Nidoking, Nidoqueen is nothing to be trifled with. Here are Nidoqueen’s weaknesses and Raid counters in Pokemon GO.
Nidoqueen Resistances and Weaknesses
Nidoqueen is a Poison/Ground type, which means her resistances break down like this:
- Resistant to: Fighting, Rock, Bug, Fairy
- Double-Resistant to: Poison, Electric
- Weak against: Ground, Water, Psychic, Ice
Nidoqueen Moves

Nidoqueen Counters
The best counters for Nidoqueen in Pokemon GO are Mewtwo, Hoopa, Mamoswine, Alakazam, Galarian Darmanitan, Metagross, and Kyogre. While Nidoqueen is a strong Pokemon and its unique typing gives it a lot of resistances, it’s that same typing that ultimately proves to be its undoing. As a Poison/Ground type, Nidoqueen is extremely vulnerable to both Psychic and Ice type Pokemon, two types with very consistently high DPS.
List of Nidoqueen Counters
- Mewtwo – Confusion/Psystrike
- Hoopa – Confusion, Psychic
- Mamoswine – Mud-Slap, Avalanche
- Alakazam – Confusion/Psychic
- Galarian Darmanitan – Ice Fang/Avalanche
- Mega Blastoise – Water Gun/Hydro Cannon
- Shadow Gallade – Confusion/Psychic
- Metagross – Zen Headbutt/Psychic
- Gallade – Confusion/Psychic
- Hyogre – Waterfall/Surf
For a raw battle of damage-dealing, you want a powerful Psychic type like Alakazam, Espeon, or if Legendaries are available, Mewtwo. The only thing a Psychic type would have to fear from Nidoqueen is Bite, since Psychic types are weak to Dark moves, but since that’s just a Quick Move, that’s a minor problem at best.
If you want to play it a little safer and don’t mind the fight taking a little longer, you can use a strong ice type like Galarian Darmanitan, Kyurem, or our good friend Mamoswine. Mamoswine is an extra-excellent pick here, as Nidoqueen is weak to both Ice and Ground moves, both of which are in Mamoswine’s kit.
