The Pokemon GO fanbase quickly figured out that this meant Espurr, a psychic Gen 6 Pokemon, would be a new one-star raid egg. It looks like they were right, as Espurr is now catchable along with the latest update. Here’s how to catch Espurr in Pokemon GO.

Espurr is the first Generation 6 Pokemon to release in Pokemon GO. The new Pokemon is now live in Pokemon GO tier 1 Raids. Espurr can come in male and female variants, and the evolution form, Meowstic, depends on gender. 

How to catch Espurr in Pokemon GO

Espurr, the Psychic-type Pokemon, is a one-star raid, meaning you can battle it by yourself. All you need to do is participate in tier 1 Raid Battle to catch one. Check your notifications for any nearby Raid Battles. You probably won’t have any trouble beating this one, but consider these tips if you do.

Espurr is resistant to Fighting and Psychic-type Pokemon and weak to Dark, Ghost, and Bug-type Pokemon. The best move sets on Espurr are Scratch and Psychic, Confusion and Psychic, and Scratch and Psyshock. Save up those Espurr candies, and you can evolve Espurr into Meowstic.

Shiny Espurr in Pokemon GO

At the time of writing this, there are no known reports of Trainers finding a shiny Espurr. From past experiences, new Pokemon generally don’t have a shiny variant when they first release.
