How to get a Sun Stone in Pokemon Go

There are four different ways to get a Sun Stone in Pokemon Go:

  1. PokeStops
  2. 7th Stop Streak
  3. Celebi Tasks
  4. Gifts

PokeStops and Gyms

Like other evolution items, you can get a Sun Stone through PokeStops and Gyms. Visit any of the locations and spin for a chance to get one. The drop chance makes it quite rare, with only about a 1% chance of finding one per spin.

7th Stop Streak

Visiting a PokeStop for seven days in a row grants a streak that significantly increases your odds of finding evolution items like the Sun Stone.

Celebi Tasks

You can sometimes obtain Sun Stones, or other evolution items, through mythical quest lines. For example, the second step of A Ripple in Time rewarded players with one Sun Stone during the event.

Gifts

Believe it or not, you can receive Sun Stones through gifts from friends. They are about as rare as finding one straight up through a PokeStop, though. While it’s not a reliable method to farm one, you may randomly receive one through a gift as a pleasant surprise.

What Pokemon evolve using Sun Stones?

The Sun Stone can be used to evolve Gloom into Bellossom or Sunkern into Sunflora. For Gloom, you will need a Sun Stone and 100 Oddish Candy. Sunkern can evolve into Sunflora with a Sun Stone and 50 Sunkern Candy.

Sun Stones are one of several different evolution items. Other items include King’s Rock, Dragon Scale, Metal Coat, Sinnoh Stone, and Unova Stone.
