How to Unlock Island Sanctuary in FFXIV Patch 6.2

That's a whole lotta acreage.

I’ve certainly never owned my own island, but the notion is obviously attractive. Your own little slice of tropical paradise to do with what you wish… who wouldn’t want to have such a thing at their fingertips? Well, as of Final Fantasy XIV’s 6.2 update, now you can have just that! Here’s how to unlock Island Sanctuary in FFXIV patch 6.2.

The quest you need to undertake to unlock your Island Sanctuary is only level 1, so theoretically, anyone could do it. However, you do need to have completed the main scenario quest Endwalker in order to access the quest, and considering that’s a level 90 quest, you probably won’t be able to access it if you’re just starting the game out.

If you meet the requirements, all you need to do is visit Old Sharlayan and speak with the Clueless Crier NPC at X: 11.9, Y: 11.0. A quick chat later, and you’ll be aboard a boat on your way to your new tropical paradise. You’ll have free reign of your entire Island Sanctuary right from the get-go; you can immediately set to gathering materials and crafting items and emplacements. No Disciples of the Hand or Land are required for anything.

If you want to leave your island, you can do so by either using the Teleport or Return commands, or by using the boat stationed on the island’s coast. Additionally, if your character sits idle on your island for more than 30 minutes, you’ll automatically be teleported away to Lower La Noscea. You can return to your island by talking to the boatman, Baldin, in that same location.

Once you’ve finished your first few quests in your Island Sanctuary and constructed your Cozy Cabin, you can also invite friends and party members to come to visit you there. You can enable this feature in your Islekeep’s Index menu. You can visit other players’ islands in the same way, though you will need to have completed the main scenario quest The Ultimate Weapon before Baldin lets you do so.
