The Best Phones to Play Genshin Impact on the Go

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

I’m not much for mobile gaming on the norm. I can never quite seem to get the same entertainment value out of a game that relies solely on a phone touch screen compared to one that uses a controller. That being said, when a game like Genshin Impact is available on mobile devices, the prospect does become much more tempting. Genshin Impact is, however, a fairly beefy game, which means you’ll need the right phone for the job. Here are a few of the best phones to play Genshin Impact on the go.

Depending on your personal standards of graphical quality and running speed, different phones will serve your needs. If, for example, all you care about is playing the game itself over graphical quality and framerates, a lower-end smartphone would work just fine.

Lenovo S5 Pro

Lenovo’s S5 Pro is a good budget option, costing less than $500. The game will definitely run on this phone, though you’ll likely have to crank the quality all the way down. The Realme 7 Pro is another good budget option, and thanks to its Snapdragon 720G processor, you should be able to get the quality up to at least medium, though don’t expect more than 30 FPS.

Let’s say, while the game is important to you, you want it to at least look pretty and stable. This is a job for a middle-of-the-road phone. These are the situations where the majority of commercial-grade phones really shine.

Samsung Galaxy A71

Samsung’s Galaxy A71 can get you a solid medium quality, plus steadier frame rates than the Realme 7. Of course, while mobile gaming is usually better suited to an Android phone, there’s no rule that says Apple phones can’t work just as well. The iPhone 11’s A13 processor is more than capable of running Genshin Impact on par with the Galaxy A71, though if that’s a little rich for your blood, the iPhone XR will suffice.

Now, let’s get to the meat and potatoes of things: let’s say you absolutely cannot play a game unless the quality’s maxed out and the frame rate is uncapped. To be honest, if that’s your philosophy, I’m a little confused as to why you’re playing games on mobile. Nevertheless, there are super-duper smartphones out there that can run games on par with a proper gaming PC. If gaming’s the emphasis, you can’t go wrong with Razer.

Razer Phone 2

The Razer Phone 2 has a Snapdragon 845 processor and 8 GB of RAM, not to mention a massive screen that’ll really turn the game into a production. The absolute cream of the crop, though, would probably be the Asus ROG Phone 3, packing a mighty Snapdragon 865+ processor and 12 GB of RAM. This monster can run Genshin Impact on Ultra no problem, though I hope you weren’t planning on buying gems, ‘cause this phone costs as much as some computers.
