Survivors and Teachable Perks in Dead By Daylight Explained

Survivors and Teachable Perks in Dead By Daylight Explained

All of the Survivors in Dead By Daylight have their own unique perks derived from their personal backgrounds and skill sets. As you may imagine, though, when you’re trapped in purgatory with a handful of randos, sooner or later you get to talking, and you pick up a few things. With enough time and gumption, survivors can be taught each other’s perks. Here’s everything you need to know about Survivors and teachable perks in Dead by Daylight.

A Learning Experience

The first time you select a Survivor, you’ll be given the low-down on their three unique perks. At first, these perks are 100% exclusive to their original Survivors, no sharing. The only new perks the Survivors can pick up are the generic ones from the Bloodweb, but as practical as the generic perks can be, if you really want to win, you’ll need to mix and match uniques.

How to use teachable perks in Dead by Daylight

If you want your Survivors to pick up perks from other Survivors, you gotta level ‘em up. You technically don’t have to use a Survivor if you want their unique perks, you can just funnel your Bloodpoints into them, leveling up through the Bloodweb. What you’re looking for here are three specific levels: 30, 35, and 40. On these levels, you’ll see a special version of one of the Survivor’s perks on the Bloodweb, so make sure you unlock it before the Entity can devour it (you’ll get another chance if it does, but nobody likes waiting).

This special version is known as a Teachable perk, and by obtaining a Teachable from a Survivor’s Bloodweb, all other Survivors will be able to learn it. Now, to clarify, unlocking the Teachable won’t automatically give it to all Survivors. Just like the generic perks, you’ll have to wait for it to randomly spawn in a Survivor’s Bloodweb. If you’re in a rush and happen to have some Iridescent Shards you don’t care about, you can visit the Shrine of Secrets in the in-game shop to buy Teachables. 4 random perks will show up in the shop every few days, so if you see one you like, you can buy it to have it start appearing in Bloodwebs.

Incidentally, while we’re talking primarily about Survivors here, this same process is true for Killers. Just like Survivors, Killers will have one of their three Teachable perks appear in their Bloodweb at levels 30, 35, and 40. Unlock it, and all Killers can start learning those perks. If there’s a really good perk synergy out there, Survivor or Killer, then make sure you invest your Bloodpoints accordingly so you can make it happen.
