The only thing more fun than destroying planets and aliens in deep space is doing it with a friend. If you’ve ever wondered whether Deep Rock Galactic is crossplay or not, then you’re not alone! Keep reading to find out if Deep Rock Galactic offers crossplay!

Is Deep Rock Galactic Crossplay?

Deep Rock Galactic is a co-op game that’s offered on a truly staggering number of platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and even Xbox Cloud Gaming.

It would honestly be a disappointment to see a game that’s offered on so many platforms be devoid of any crossplay capabilities, so it’s a good thing that it isn’t! People with friends on other platforms will be ecstatic to know that you’re able to play Deep Rock Galactic crossplay! However, keep in mind that its crossplay feature is a bit unconventional in the way that it’s implemented.

Although crossplay is indeed present in Deep Rock Galactic, it’s only able to be utilized in a fairly odd way. Crossplay is only available between Xbox users and PC users, specifically PC users who originally purchased Deep Rock Galactic from the Windows 10 Store. Oddly enough, PC users who bought Deep Rock Galactic from the Steam store instead won’t be able to play with Xbox users.

The only way for players to utilize Deep Rock Galactic’s crossplay feature is if they’re attempting to utilize it between an Xbox user, and a PC user who didn’t buy the game on Steam. This is unfortunate for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that this game often goes on sale on Steam.

So although you are able to play Deep Rock Galactic crossplay, it does come with a bit of a catch. This game still gets occasional updates from the developers, so hopefully, this issue will be remedied someday in the future.

What is the Co-Op Limit in Deep Rock Galactic?

Crossplay aside, Deep Rock Galactic has always had multiplayer capabilities. Deep Rock Galactic supports up to 4 players at a time, so you can play this game solo or with up to 3 of your friends! The only thing more fun than obliterating evil alien civilizations is doing it with friends! As long as your buddies are all playing the game on the same platform or meet the weirdly specific above qualifications, then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about with multiplayer.
