How Do You Get the Thread of Ascent Strand Fragment in Destiny 2 Lightfall?
The Thread of Ascent is one of over a dozen different Fragments that you can get in Destiny 2 Lightfall, all of which can be used to boost different powers and abilities of the Strand subclass. It will cost you 200 Strand Meditations to purchase, and you can get it from the vendor near Pouka Pond. Strand Meditations are the newest currency in Destiny 2, accessible to players who have the Strand subclass and use it to kill enemies. Whenever you defeat a hostile with a Strand ability, they will drop Strand Meditations which can then be used to purchase Fragments, Aspects and Grenade Abilities.
- Grenade Abilities cost 50 Strand Meditations to purchase from the Pouka Pond vendor
- Aspects are 150 Strand Meditations each
- Every Fragment will set you back 200 Strand Mediations when you buy it from the merchant
The Thread of Ascent specifically will let you reload your equipped weapon automatically whenever you activate your grenade ability. This can be very helpful in combat if you are in a tight spot and need to reload your weapon quickly. Also, this Fragment will grant you bonus airborne effectiveness as well as handling when you use the grenade ability, although the duration for these buffs aren’t that long.
Will the Fragment Get Disabled?
One thing to note is that for the Root of Nightmares World First race and Contest Mode, this Fragment will be disabled across the entire game. While Bungie’s reasons for doing this are unclear, it is likely that there would be some balancing or gameplay issues if players could use this perk in the contest. However, it should become usable shortly after the event is completed, which means you’ll only have to go without it for a little while.
How Do You Use This Fragment?
In order to use the Thread of Ascent, you will need to be using either the Titan, Warlock or Hunter class in Destiny 2 Lightfall. From there, you will need to use your grenade ability, which will then activate the Fragment to reload your weapon and give you a bonus to both airborne effectiveness and handling. If your weapon does not need to be reloaded, then the only things you’ll notice are the airborne improvements.
